It's official, via the Dave Matthews Band website; DMB, with opening act Jason Mraz, will play two shows at Wrigley Field on Friday, September 17 and Saturday, September 18, when the Cubs will be finishing up a road trip in Miami against the Marlins. They'll only have three days to get the field back in shape for a homestand that starts vs. the Giants on Tuesday, September 21.
After the jump, more details on ticket sales, also from the above link.
Tickets for the Wrigley show will be offered to Warehouse members in advance of the public on sale date. The Warehouse Series 8-2010 ticketing request period will open at 6:00 p.m. ET on Friday, July 2nd and will close at 12:00 pm noon ET on Monday, July 12th. The ticketing request period is not first come-first serve, all members have the same chance of being randomly chosen for tickets. Warehouse confirmations will be posted by the end of the day on Friday July 16th. The public on sale for the Wrigley Field show will take place at 10:00 am CT on Saturday July 17th.

I am waiting to buy tickets in case there is an 80% off sale at some point.

Good.
You go ahead and wait. I suspect all the DMB season ticket holders won’t say a word.
Because there aren’t any.

I have one question
Ballhawk noted that you talked to Ricketts the other day. Did you let him know how you felt about the discounted tickets and what was his response?

It wasn't the time or place to do that.
But I intend to.

Still an apt comparison though...
… there is likely a DMB fanclub (Warehouse members?) that gets access to presale tickets – you may or may not pay to be a member of that club, likely for the specific purpose of getting tickets in advance of the general public.
Discounting and screwing those folks would be akin to screwing a team’s season ticket holders.

If we're lucky....
… the stage will create a hole and some Cub will fall into it, never to be seen again.

Hey! You old f*$!kers shouldn't crap on the younger dudes here
Seen Dave Mathews twice and it’s a good show. A lot of dope if you want that sort of thing, good, happy music, and plenty of hot chicks like the band.

Can we arrange from them to just stay on the field
for a couple of extra days?
It never gets to be easy
I would hope the main attraction would be
the Cubs at Wrigley this summer!
Oh well!

I kind of cringe every time DMB comes to Chicago
because I’m a docent with the Chicago Architecture Foundation, and I remember what their tour bus did to our tour boat a few years ago.
One must wonder
A band that dumps all sorts of nasty on a tour boat. A cup from a company that dumps all sorts of nasty in the gulf. A sign which reportedly is increasing the amount of all sorts of nasty being dumped on unsuspecting fans. A team poised to dump all sorts of nasty contracts. Trend?
just trying to cope.

Awesome
Dream come true for me….
Best drummer alive right now in Wrigley Field… one of the hottest bands in the planet playing in a city they have very strong support in to close out the tour… when they arent touring next year (first time in 20 years) – For those of you who havent seen them or have an opinion of them based off nothing (which is many of you) – take the time to check out this show and you will change your minds
