I have to admit, i didn't expect this to work, and i generally don't condone ratting somebody out, but i think Woo Woo inspires special circumstances.
He was a few rows above me and a group of maybe a hundred other University of Iowa alumni last night, and started right in with the wooing early and loud. Between innings, he was... how shall i say this... creeping around? We all know his reputation.
Within 10 minutes of making a complaint to the Cubs text line, he was gone. Might be worth trying in future instances.
Sorry for the crappy picture quality... just got a new phone (HTC EVO) and am not sure how to take screen caps yet.

My iPhone has always worked there too.
Been to two games this year in the grandstand on both sides of the stadium. No issues.

Tons!
Slacker Radio (music), Dolphin Browser HD, Handcent SMS (texts), Food Finder, Places Directory, Where, Shop Savvy, SportsTap, AK Notepad (great sticky notes widget), TuneWiki, Weatherbug and Yelp.
Seconded on...
… Weatherbug and Handcent. Essential.
Also, if you use Twitter, Seesmic is the best app I’ve found for tweeting.
"You can observe a lot just by watching." ~ Yogi Berra
More apps!
For messaging I use Chomp over Handcent.
Pandora. idealyzer, movies, urbanspoon, goby, the straight up Twitter app is good.
I assume you have a taskkiler.
My paid apps include: pure grid calendar (bigger, better calendar than stock), beautiful widgets (for the htc looking clock/weather) and At-Bat!
My personal favorite though is Launcherpro. It’s a home replacement app that I love. I think it’s faster than stock home on my droid. Gives a bunch of different functions and more homescreens. It’s free (he just came out with a paid version but free has all the best stuff). It might take a few days to figure it out. But I love it love it love it.
How about a CTA Bus Tracker app? You from chicago?
The free one i have blows.

If you play golf...
the SkyDroid GPS app for $1.99 is phenomenal. Dead on identical readings as the $150 SkyCaddies other golfers in my foursome were using.
Seconded on Seesmic for Twitter. Google Sky Map and Navigation are great ones.
Beware the Fring app—had to unistall it, as it caused my camera to not work (EVO). Maybe after the bugs are worked out.
I’m hoping they drop the price on MLB At Bat 2010 (which is cool, but the season is almost half over.)
The Air Horn app works as a Woo-remover.
Love the EVO so far, but I keep it plugged in at home, car and office, AND I carry a spare charged battery. Heavy use will kill the battery quickly, since you have 4G in Chicago I’m sure it’s worse. At least you can swap batteries unlike that other phone.
This is great news.
Keep up the good work. Hopefully, others will as well and that self-promoting noise machine will be permanently banned.
I’d love to get an EVO for my next phone, or I may wait for the Samsung Galaxy. How’s battery life on the EVO? I’ve heard it’s not so great.
"You can observe a lot just by watching." ~ Yogi Berra
Battery life is literally the ONLY thing i miss about my iPhone.
With a good task / app killer and some diligence on your screen brightness / turning antennas you aren’t using off, you’ll make the day, but i do plan on buying another battery for heavy use days.

You answered my question.
I think I’ll wait for the Galaxy. I don’t really want to get another battery if I got the EVO.
"You can observe a lot just by watching." ~ Yogi Berra
The diffence likely won't be huge.
I think they are both rocking a 1500 mAh Li-ion battery, and being that they both run the same release of Android, i expect you’ll have to jump through the same hoops no matter which you get.
The only disadvantage to the EVO’s battery life is the big ass screen, which i’ll happily take in favor of an extra hour on the thing before charging.

I just happened to catch the number on the TVs that sit above the 200 section...
… and chuckled when i thought of the poor guy fielding a Woo Woo complaint.
We use a similar system at Soldier Field and i’m constantly getting petty complaints over my radio to go look in to poeple who are smoking or cursing or doing things i can’t really prove once i arrive. At least they wouldn’t have that problem with old Ronnie.

Time for the Andy the Clown treatment
At some point the White Sox told AtC to stay home…I bet the Cubs fear some backlash as Mr. Wickers is treated fondly by a lot people, though always at a distance.

Seems to me what you said is pretty apparent that has spent more than 5 minutes around the guy. I am curious how he lies to get into the ballpark.

My problem is people who think his act is “cute.” People who feed right into it, take pictures with him, all that. That’s why he keeps coming around. Meanwhile you have those of us who’ve been to so many games as it is, that the act became tired around the third or fourth time.

Haha, that's awesome!
What’s the story with Ronnie Woo Woo anyways? How does that bum get into all the games?
He lies his way into games,
And gropes people in order for them to give him their tickets.
Then, once he’s inside, he acts as if he’s the team mascot and walks around Wrigley without regard for seating sections and security, rather than stopping him, just let him get away with it.
Anything else you’d like to add, Al?

People routinely give him free tickets
Because despite a steady stream of posts from a few people here, most people who go to games at Wrigley are amused by Ronnie.
Despite your contention...
… having seen him in action, it appears more and more people are becoming less amused by this tired old act.
But you go right ahead being contrary.
"You can observe a lot just by watching." ~ Yogi Berra
Taken a poll, have you?
I don’t know anyone who enjoys having him in the proximity screaming during the game – or any other time.
by Shanghai Badger on Jul 26, 2010 1:02 PM CDT up reply actions
No polls necessary
The guy’s been doing the same thing for years. Actually, he used to go to a lot more games than he goes to these days. He’s been given tickets and beer for at least 25 years by fans who love to Woo right along with him.
Ronnie’s not my cup of tea, but neither is sitting in the bleachers where he spends most of his time at Wrigley, so it’s not really an issue for me at all. But when the dude walks around the stadium, literally hundreds of fans stop him to say hi and/or get their pictures taken with him. And that’s every single time I’ve seen him at a game, including at Spring Training (how he got to Arizona is a mystery I’ve yet to solve).
Some of the "morning zoo" DJ types used to pay his way there.
Upon which, he would mooch a cheap motel room, and the HoHoKams would let him in free (something I hope they stop now).
Heard another story about him in Arizona — the bar/grill that used to be Steve Stone’s (I forget its current name) has an outdoor patio surrounded by a low wall. Heard that Ronnie used to hang out around the wall, wait for patrons to leave, and then steal tips off the tables.
A real piece of work, he is. The people who stop to have photos taken with him have no idea that he’s nothing more than a self-promoter who will mooch and lie and steal everything he can get his hands on. Some of these well-meaning fans actually think he’s a former player since he walks around wearing a baseball uniform.
It’s time for this tired act to be ended.
"You can observe a lot just by watching." ~ Yogi Berra
The fact that people will blindly get pictures with someone "famous"
Does nothing to support your assertion.
I’d wager that
most people who go to games at Wrigley areannoyed
by Ronnie.
But there’s no way to prove that, nor is there a way to prove what you claim. I think reasonability is on my side, though.
by Shanghai Badger on Jul 27, 2010 10:07 AM CDT up reply actions
Having personally witnessed him at hundreds of games...
… I can vouch for your reasonability.
"You can observe a lot just by watching." ~ Yogi Berra
Wait...
You’re saying that people like having a picture taken with him and like to Woo along with him. That’s reasonable…laughing while taking a picture for a few seconds/minutes then walking away.
That however, has nothing to do with what Badger said…people actually sitting near him during the game or being with him for a length of time. The people snapping pics and laughing at the funny guy don’t have to put up with him. Interesting how you say “most people”…that sure isn’t the fans that have to be near him for more than 5 minutes. Any source for him being given tickets other than your speculation?
