Try as they might, the city of Detroit can't stop baseball from being played at the old Tiger Stadium site.

Don't the Detroit Police have anything better to do?

Why?
Because: private property + injury + lawyers = big lawsuit
Otherwise you’d think that a city with over 20% unemployment would have other intrinsic issues the police would have to attend to on a daily basis.
Just win the next game...!
A couple of signs that read...
…. “use this field at your own risk” ought to cover the city from lawsuits.

Ah, yes.
Another putdown from you, without any explanation. Lovely to see you here.

It's not a putdown
It’s a simple fact. The notion that a sign that says "use this field at your own risk" would protect a property owner from a tort claim for injuries suffered on their property is simply wrong. Furthermore, even if it would, it would not stop an injured person from filing a lawsuit, which could be expensive and time-consuming to defend.
I think it’s better to keep this focused on baseball, so I’m not going to get into an extended explanation that would 1) take up a lot of my time and 2) be of little to no interest to non-lawyers out there. Instead, I simply pointed out that your statement was absolutely 100% wrong. If you want to disagree and actually present an argument citing precedent or any applicable statutes, then I’ll be happy to take the time to engage.
Had you said this in the first place, it would have come across better.
Your first post came across as condescending, which is frequently what I see from you here.

Agreed in part
I should have written a couple more explanatory sentences the first time.
So you're a lawyer then?

That's a great story
I hope they succeed in keeping it a place to play.

The city should just buy the property
and let it be a city park. Its downtown Detroit: the land cannot be very valuable anymore. Hell, they could probably eminent domain the land on the grounds that they’d be improving upon its current legal use: weed patch.
