Report: Tejada Traded To Padres
The Baltimore Sun reports that Miguel Tejada has been traded from the Orioles to the Padres, pending MLB approval.
Article doesn't say who the Orioles will get in return, only that their Triple-A 3B Josh Bell is headed to the major leagues.

Report now mentions Wynn Pelzer
He was a top 10 prospect coming into the season but hasn’t had a very strong year so far.
i really hope that the rangers and padres werent that interested in theriot and nady
or hendry is really overvaluing them
Overvaluing?
The problem is that neither of them has much value at all.

solid deal for the orioles
getting a solid prospect for tejada. it’s not a bad deal for the padres. Pelzer’s a good power arm, but he’s not the type of guy that one loses sleep over if they are in the race, as the Padres are.

I think Buck will get them headed in the right direction
He instills a strong program. Problem seems to be that his message gets lost after a couple years as he wears on you. But I do think that Buck is the right guy for them right now. IIRC, Tremblay lost the clubhouse of youngsters a bit, so getting a strong guy like Buck in there may get their attention.
Sorta sucks for Juan Samuel. Early reviews seemed fairly positive on his potential as a manager.
Seems to me it would have been better to just start fresh next spring.
To bring someone new to this mess? Especially now without Tejada? That team could go 10-51 the rest of the year.

actually
I think it’s the right move. Samuel is a well-liked guy and there were positive reports on his abilities, but speaking to folks there, I really think they needed to start getting Buck’s system and message in now, getting the youngsters attention. No one’s expecting anything to change down the stretch, as the team is what it is right now (the loss of Tejada isn’t that big a deal, the team’s core youngsters simply haven’t developed as fast as hoped, and the loss of Brian Roberts really put them behind the 8-ball), but changing the locker room chemistry may be needed.
Maybe.
But seriously, how much of that 25-man roster is going to be back next year?

probably a good amount will be in the org
but the thing is, a lot of key guys are up, guys that, barring a blockbuster, won’t be moved. guys like Wieters, Markakis, Adam Jones, Arrieta, Matusz, and so forth.
i don't expect them to go hard after pitching this offseason
a veteran innings eater type is a possibility, but i think they will simply wait and see what their young arms can do. I don’t think Matusz/Tillman/Arrieta/Britton will all pan out, but its a good foursome in terms of talent (I’d bet on the two lefties). They have Millwood and Guthrie on the roster, so they may have their innings eater on hand. They may go after some pen arms, but they tried that with Mike Gonzalez this year, so I’m not sure. They may stay internal and hope a David Hernandez takes to the pen. Jim Johnson will be back, which will help.
I actually wouldn’t be surprised if they made a big splash for a position player. They’ll see what happens with Bell, but they could use a big time corner IF bat. Granted, not many are available, and several teams may be looking, so if they do pursue someone, it may be through a trade.
Well, if Buck stays true to form
he will get the team in the playoffs and they will fire him to get a manager that will get them to the WS lol
