i think bruce miles said it best the other day
nady on a bad team is like a hood ornament on a jalopy (or something to that ilk). if they offer a decent prospect, take the deal. I could see other teams having interest in Nady (as a possible bench bat), but the chances of getting a significantly different return now vs. later seems unlikely to me, so if a good deal comes, my view is to take it. Jeff Baker can fill in as the right-handed corner OF backup.
I was hoping for
Elvis Andrus as the PTBNL for Blanco (sarcasm).
Texas has some good prospects. Roll it.
have at it
nady deserves playing time.a very good hitter.wont get much except his salary off the books.
Make the deal, Jim
Nady is better suited in an A.L. Team anyway

A cleanup hitter
who is slugging .358 with a bad arm?
They can have him. Nady really is not that good.

They want him to platoon at 1st base...
Send him over there… it helps unclog our roster.

Jerry Angelo trades for Jay Cutler! (4.2.2009)
Yep.
Take the rest of his contract and send a face-saving prospect, doesn’t really even matter who.

they are more likely
to send a little better prospect and give us a better prospect, given their bankruptcy situation.
DEJESUS!!!
They didn't have any problems taking Cliff Lee's deal.
I doubt they’d have any problems taking the rest of Nady’s.

They had a major problem, actually
Which is why Seattle chipped in with cash, which the Rangers have been telling people needed to happen for awhile now. They’ve more prospects than dough right now, so if you’re picking up the tab, you can do a real nice deal with them right now. If you don’t have cash to bring to the table then Daniels and Ryan aren’t taking your calls.

Noted.
Still, there isn’t much more than $1.5 million left on Nady’s deal. You’d think they could take that, if they are the ones inquiring about him.

how much does the team being in bankruptcy effect trades?
some friends here who are ranger fans (and they were since i have known them, not just jumping on board) figured no moves would be made due to it

Bankruptcy has got to have a major effect
The team has probably a hard limit on spending and would have to petition the bankruptcy court to exceed that limit. That petition would be denied unless the team could positively prove an addition to revenue that exceeded the spending – and “we’re sure we can sell more tickets” wouldn’t cut it.
Interesting note regarding Rangers tickets.
They sold 14,000 walkup tickets last night after it was announced Cliff Lee was going to start.
Obviously, acquiring Xavier Nady isn’t going to sell tickets. But the Rangers are in first place and as long as they stay there, ticket sales should remain strong.

I wish Dye would have accepted the deal.
Never wanted Nady.

That would have been fine.
I liked Dye more. Yeah he was old, but would have been a great clubhouse guy and a team leader.

I liked the Nady signing at the time...
For the price he got, I felt he was the type of player we’d get. But I anticipated him being in a platoon situation in RF with Fukudome and spot starter at 1B if healthy.
The problem is that the Cubs later found out that Colvin was to be a big surprise. His emergence made Nady less valuable. It also turns out that Nady hasn’t been very good in the pinch hitter role.
Though to be honest, I don’t think the signing of Dye, Gomes, or Nady would have made a big difference on this season.
