Pure Rosterbation, but perhaps a trade of Beltran, Oliver Perez and Luis Castillo for Zambrano and Fukudome might actually make sense in the real world. The difference in salaries is 12.9 million, and everyone's contract is up after 2011 except for Z. The Mets could turn an injured Beltran and two useless parts into a platoon partner with Francouer, and some needed pitching. Z at 12.9 million a year is a lot better than 18 million. The Cubs would do the trade for obvious reasons, saving 12.9 million, acquiring a lottery ticket in Beltran, and ridding themselves of Z and Fukudome. Taking on Perez and Castillio would simply be the price of doing business.
