Scale of 1 -10 good?

10 being Reed Johnson againt Prince. (best catch I ever saw)

"It was a perfect situation for the Brewers," Hill said. "They had a guy up there at the plate [in Counsell] who takes a lot of pride in what he does and he practices those situations, so when it does come up, he gets the bunt down to the right side of the field. They have the perfect guy on first base [in Gomez], who is one of the fastest guys in the league, and they had one of the worst fundamental teams on the field, so it was a perfect situation for them."

I'd give it a 7.5

Or a 6.5 on ESPN’s Buehrle-meter.

but he is probably needed more in the bullpen

He's got potential for either the 'pen or the rotation

And he’s a cost-controlled lefty. Keeper.

Sometimes the needs of the bullpen...

…outweigh the needs of the rotation…

…or the needs of the one.

I'm really disappointed that Hoff hasn't matured any at the plate... He's up there just hacking at pitches..

Dome's not as bad as some people make him out to be

Unfortunately, he’s wildly overpaid and his lack of power doesn’t sit well for a corner outfield position

by cooliogirl47 on Aug 11, 2010 12:13 AM CDT up reply actions

He's batted there on occasion

Obviously this year with the emergence of Colvin, he was odd man out. Why Colvin bats leadoff is beyond me. If Lou’s insistent on Lee and Aram in the 3-4, then Colvin is the obvious choice batting fifth. Lou’s wanted a lefty basher since he got here for that spot, and then he throws him in the leadoff spot.

by shoemile on Aug 11, 2010 12:16 AM CDT up reply actions

Dome's best spot is 5th or 6th if you look at his career...

Lou doesn’t have a leadoff hitter, at all.. so Colvin got the gig. I still think that it was mismanagement of teaching people how to hit 1 and 2 that threw off the offense this season..

You ever get that feeling....

Ron Santo - 8,143 ABs, .277 BA; 342 HR; 1331 RBI = NO Hall of Fame?

Brooks Robinson - 10,654 ABs, .267 BA; 268 HR; 1357 RBI = Hall of Fame.

Any more questions ?

and on a day when there was absolutely no earthly reason to expect the Cubs to win

…they won.
