Disagree on Rolen
Carpenter was yelling at Dusty and Rolen apparently was trying to get Carpenter to calm down and get out of the way, when the crush of the mob pressed both of them up against the backstop. Both of them were talking to one another following the fracas in a friendly way. I think both are good friends in real life.

when you injure someone with a cheap shot
like kicking with spikes on, you should be suspended without pay until the other player is cleared to play (in any sport). if your stupidity ends the other players career, you get to join him in retirement.
now this is only for cheap shots, total garbage things. Theisman is an example of an injury that was not dirty, and would not have fallen in this catagory. Charles Martin of the Packers with his shot on McMahon would have been in that catagory.

I was not a Packers fan then (I didn’t follow the NFL back then), but that play was beyond dirty. If Martin didn’t get ejected, there was something very wrong with the officials.

ERA is deceptive in the minors
Guys are playing behind mediocre-at-best defenses in parks that are effectively bandboxes. It’s not a very effective stat for telling how good a pitcher is.
Jay Jackson’s the best pitcher the Cubs have in AAA, but he’s been having some annoying struggles since coming back from his bullpen conversion.
