The guy gets around. Apparently he opted out of his Yankees contract on July 31 ... not a smart move, as he likely would have had a September callup and been voted a small share of their postseason pie. He won't get that in Miami.

Perhaps he thinks he has a better chance to PLAY in Florida

Some guys especially guys trying to stay in the game figure that is more important than short term money.

There's always first base next year with the Cubs...

…well, hey…people are talking about bringing Koyie Hill back, so, why not?

Ron Santo - 8,143 ABs, .277 BA; 342 HR; 1331 RBI = NO Hall of Fame?

Brooks Robinson - 10,654 ABs, .267 BA; 268 HR; 1357 RBI = Hall of Fame.

Any more questions ?

So playing in front of 12 people in Florida...

… would be a better credential than playing a few games for the possible World Champions?

I think Mr. Tracy made a mistake.

If he is playing, possibly yes

I really can’t fault him if he thinks playing in Florida is better than hoping to ride the bench in New York.

Agree

I can see where a guy like Tracy would feel he needs to get as much mnajor league playing time at this point in his career no matter where it might be. He needs to prove he’s not a Triple A filler player at this point.

Chad never got a single AB

the whole time he was with the Yankees, so far as I can tell.

This was not only a sensible decision, it was pretty much a no brainer.

PSA

Chad Tracy sucks. Hopefully this is the last time we have to hear about him.

Good that you got that out of your system

It's funny cause I forgot that he played for the Cubs this year.
