Title link above takes you to official trailer for documentary.

Saw this for the first time over the weekend (missed the Chicago premiere earlier this summer) and have to say two things:
1) Camera does not add 10 pounds - it's more like 20, and...
2) Hate the sound of my own voice... chalkboard city! ugh...

Aside from that, I thought it was pretty good. So did enough other folks that it's getting an encore showing on "Awards Night" of the United Film Festival this Thursday, 9/16, at the Music Box theatre, just a few blocks west of Wrigley Field.

Showtime is at 9:30pm. I know that's kinda late for a school night, but it's only 74m long. Plus there will be a little Q&A session afterwards if you want to find out if ballhawks really would knock over their grandmothers to get a ball... If nothing else, at least you get a chance to see what Wrigley Field looked like before the bleacher expansion - lots of action footage from both inside and outside the park.

Tickets are $10 and can be purchased online here or at the Music Box theatre box office.

And finally, here's something that will probably be in the "outtakes" section of the DVD when it comes out.

Yep, I'l be at the showing and part of the Q&A session afterwards.

I believe Mike Diedrich, the producer will be there as well. Not sure about any other ballhawks – some of the them may be at the Sox game that night.

The Sox game?

Waiting for balls on 35th Street? ;)

Believe it or not, a foul ball actually did make it clear out of that park earlier this season

As far as I know, that’s the first time it’s happened at the Cell.

But no, they don’t hang out on 35th St. I guess there are ways to get cheap tix to Sox games so if they go, they go inside and actually watch the game.

I see.

I’m gonna try to make it to the Thursday screening if at all possible.

Will there be a dvd?

I’d love to see it but that is way past my bedtime. And I’m sure you looked and sounded fine. Congrats!

Duh...you said there'd be outtakes on the dvd.

So I guess the question should be do you know when it will be released?

There will definitely be a DVD but release plans haven't been finalized yet...

…primarily because Mike is still working on possible big-screen distribution efforts (beyond just film festivals). No idea if/how/when that will happen, but I think you can see where he wants to do all he can to make that happen before going the DVD route.

Also should mention it's being shown in another upcoming film festival

Although the Music Box Theatre is a very classic and cool venue and being just a long foul ball away from Wrigley Field is very appropriate, I got goosebumps when I heard about this one…

That clip was great.

A lovely story:
