Nats Fire Rob Dibble
This after his remarks that Stephen Strasburg should just pitch through pain.

Don't Agree with Dibble or the Firing
I strongly disagree with Dibble about Strasburg, but I don’t think Dibble should have been canned for those comments.

Dibble isn't a smart guy and makes a lot of stupid comments.
But this isn’t one of them. I imagine Nolan Ryan has said things of this nature about 3/4 of his players.

Actually, it turned out to be
an incredibly stupid statement. Strasburg is having Tommy John surgery soon. Dibble was not a little off the mark. He was steering the Titantic into a second iceberg because the first one was just a little ice cube. Dibble was 100% wrong on Strasburg.
Why would the Nationals want to keep an “analyst” who was so misinformed about the game?

Hindsight is always 20/20.
When he made that comment he had no way of knowing the extent of the injury. I don’t know of too many people that predicted this on national television. Dibble was speaking to playing through pain, not a f-ing TJ surgery.

Here's what Dibble said
“So for me, a little bit has to be put back on Strasburg here…OK, you throw a pitch, it bothers your arm, and you immediately call out the manager and the trainer? Suck it up, kid. This is your profession. You chose to be a baseball player. You can’t have the cavalry come in and save your butt every time you feel a little stiff shoulder, sore elbow…stop crying, go out there and pitch. Period.”
If Dibble had been more even handed in his comments, he might still be the analyst for the Nationals. But no, again he was stupid and let his big mouth get him trouble.
Probably the dumbest thing Dibble did was forget who he worked for. As the analyst for the Nationals, he is expected to be part cheerleader, part critic. But that criticism should be articulate and informative to the audience. Dibble was not providing that.

Well...Dibble surely has earned that over his broadcasting career, not to mention his
playing days. But I would say that as unpolished as his comments were, they were merely the straw that broke the camel’s back. I can’t see a broadcaster getting fired for those comments alone at all. He did forget who he was broadcasting for, and had made a lot of mistakes before that. As I said before, he belongs on that Best Damn show where he is paid to make sarcastic swipes at players rather than representing a team as a broadcaster. It’s only a matter of time with him before he wears out his welcome.

It's a little misleading to say he was fired for Strasburg comments
he was on thin ice anyway with some of his comments about female fans
"It's all in the game, yo"
Right.
The Strasburg remarks were just the last straw.

Could Be
I don’t pay much attention to the Nationals games on Extra Innings. Going back several years, Dibble made a lot of stupid comments on “The Best Damn Sports Show Period”.

I didn't even have to hear about his comments about female fans.
He’s always shooting his mouth off. He hasn’t changed. Being fired for those comments alone would be wrong but obviously there was more to it than that. He’s better off on that stupid Best Damn show where he is paid to make ridiculous comments.

Yeah he made some wonderful
comments about 3 females behind homeplate during a game. One was on a phone, others were talking to each other. Dibble made the comment " See this is why women should not be allowed in the ballpark"
I watch enough National broadcasts, hell he should of been fired just for his mediocre broadcasting abilities. He has been replaced by Ray Knight who is so-so.
Dibble deserved what he got
If you ever listen to him on XM he’s about as overbearing as you could ever stand. In love with the sound of his own voice and constantly interrupts.

Agree, comes off as a meat head to me. Have never heard any informative info out of his mouth.

I was always surprised...
…to see Dibble back in the game after his retirement. I couldn’t respect him as a player, and had always wondered if he had really “grown up.”
It turned out to be a stupid statement
but I don’t think he was necessarily wrong in saying it.
That said, he’s either a Nats employee, or the Nats have to approve him.

Dibble is horrible.
I wish XM would fire him, too. He’s on the early show, first pitch, that I listen to on the way to work and he’s just horrible. He really has very little idea what he’s talking about and his “insights” into the game are pretty much the worst from any former major league player that I’ve ever heard, save Joe Morgan.
He’s defensive, arrogant and switches his opinions in the middle of a rant. At least now maybe not EVERYTHING he says will be tied back to the Nationals.
I remember watching the Nats broadcast during the Cubs series earlier this year...
Some Nats player hit a home run and Dibble’s reaction was so over the top – as if they had just won the pennant – that I had to turn them off.
Get 'em on, Get 'em over, Get 'em in!
What did they expect when they hired him?
Seriously. This hiring experiment ended about the way it should have been forecast to end.
I've lost track of the jobs Dibble has lost.
ESPN, Fox, MASN….any others?
