Free?
Yes, I know it’s up against college football…. but this ought to get some people to the park.

I'd be there
except the cost of the plane tickets and hotels would make it a little more expensive than “free.”
Playoff tickets in the minors are always a tough sell. Got to give West Tenn credit for trying.
Only $15 for Me in Gas
I can get to Jackson, TN, and back on about $15 worth of gas in my 2003 Ford Focus.

Jackson is the smallest city in Double-A, isn't it?

It's a Really Small AA Market
Here’s a list of the 2009 census estimates (rounded to the nearest 100) for Madison County and its bordering counties in west Tennessee:
- Madison: 97,300
- Gibson: 49.500
- Carroll: 28,500
- Hardeman: 27,600
- Henderson: 27,000
- Haywood: 18,900
- Chester: 16,300
- Crockett: 14,500
That’s a grand total of 8 counties, but in those 8 counties, there are still fewer than 290,000 people.
Zebulon, NC, is close to Raleigh. Kodak, TN, is close to Knoxville. Jackson, TN, is close to the likes of Humboldt and Milan. Neither Humboldt nor Milan has as many as 10,000 people, but you can get some good strawberries in Humboldt.

Hasn't West Tenn always had a problem
with attendance?
I remember Sosa doing a rehab stint down there, and they didn’t come close to selling out.
(On the other hand, I have a friend in southern Illinois who with his buddies rents out a suite for one West Tenn game each year. He says it’s fantastic.)

Ever Since 2000
They drew well from 1998-2000, but after that it’s been a struggle attendance wise. Pringles Park is nice with amphitheater style seating. The backdrop of interstate 40 in left field and a bunch of trees in right field isn’t so scenic. The Southern League really didn’t want to go to Jackson, TN, in the first place, in 1998. In fact, the move of the Memphis Chicks to Jackson, TN, was initially blocked. After it was announced that Memphis was getting a AAA team in the PCL, the Southern League finally approved the move.

Been there a couple times
and every time attendance has been low. It’s too bad. The outfield view may not be great, but otherwise it’s a great park and I love going whenever I’m in the area.
if i wasn't going to WNC to go courting .. I might do it
Sarah is much more desirable right now then anything related to the Cubs .. especially this year ..
