Around SBN: Ryder Hesjedal Wins Giro d'Italia

Farewell Tom... we hardly knew ye. That may explain why Hendry's phone was ringing so much during the seminars. :)

About $2 million I believe.

Now to see if we get anything of interest in those 3 prospects.

How about...

…Storen, Harper, and Strasburg. Seems fair

by Dayton Cubbie on Jan 17, 2011 1:25 PM CST reply actions

Had the same thought.

Da Gorz for Strasburg. GETERDONEJIMBO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

During Gorzelanny's alotted time for autographs he left before his 45 minutes were up.

He didn’t have much of a line but when it died down someone came from behind the curtain to talk to him and then as soon as there was a break he hoped up a left (about 15 minutes ahead of schedule). The two things probably aren’t related but that’s the first time I’ve ever seen a player leave early.

I was thinking the Nats were a great fit for a Gorz trade

and was hoping we could pry Steve Lombardozzi away from them. Alas, we will have to see who these three guys are. We sure do seem to be acquiring a lot of pitchers lately. You can never have too much I guess.

Lombardozzi is an imposter! He's like 51 years old. He just looks young and he fooled Jim Bowden

I swear he was on the 1987 twins

Yes.

Hmm

Will be interesting to see who these prospects are. I

I think moving James Russell

to the rotation would be a mistake. He wasn’t good as a starter in the minors.

I think we’re just going to have to go without a lefty starter. Better five good righties than four good righties and a bad lefty.

by Josh Timmers on Jan 17, 2011 1:43 PM CST reply actions

Agreed.

Will have something on the front page soon.

Agree 100%

If this forces moving Russell to the rotation, it’s a bad move. Depending on the prospects we got back this could be a good move. I really hope we didn’t give Gorzo away.

by JSB on Jan 17, 2011 1:49 PM CST up reply actions

Guh

This is starting to make me angry again. Why are we giving up a young lefty starter for nothing? Over $2million?

by JSB on Jan 17, 2011 2:01 PM CST up reply actions

You are, so far, angry about nothing, because...

… we don’t know facts yet. Why don’t you wait until you hear actual names before getting the torches and pitchforks out?

Is moving Russell to the rotation even a real possibility?

Wouldn’t it seem like the final two spots in the rotation would be decided by a battle royal between Cashner, Samardzija and Silva?

Better 4 good righties and a decent lefty ( Gorzo)

Short sited move.

Not sure I like trading

our only left handed starter. No team has ever won a World Series with all righties.

If it was easy it wouldn't be the Cubs.

by Cubbinstrongsince86 on Jan 17, 2011 1:45 PM CST reply actions

He's shown signs of low stamina in the past as a starter.

And he’s been good out of the bullpen. But he could spot start, I guess.
