Respected prospect analyst John Sickels offers a point-by-point comparison of former Cubs prospect Chris Archer and current Cubs prospect Trey McNutt on SB Nation's Minor League Ball. At the risk of giving away the ending, let's just say it's a photo finish.

I hope McNutt continues his rapid rise through the system this year.

If so, he could be in the major leagues as soon as 2012.

Photo finish?

Who’s got the bigger nose?

No one should be untouchable on this roster unless his name is Eliot Ness...or Starlin Castro.

Good read

I sure hope we kept the right one. It would be just great to have a “McNutt” in the rotation.

Seriously, if/when he does make the big leagues...

…and assuming he pitches well, I think his jersey sales could go through the roof.

McNutt...

younger, taller, more weight on him, maybe a little extra oomph on the FB, better command. and control….

If nothing else...

…I think Sickels assessment reinforces the idea that Jim Hendry was probably willing to give up Chris Archer in a trade because he had another, very similiar prospect to fall back on. And, I know, probability-wise, it would be better to have BOTH guys still in the system. But, clearly, the Cubs really, really wanted Matt Garza.
