No “Newport” CA in SoCal.

I live in Newport, and...
…although ur right, it is ALWAYS referred to as Newport…Nobody here refers to it as Newport Beach.
Only a fool drives drunk, but WAY more so in Newport — The NBPD is infamous for their checkpoints and saturation patrols — They usually have a checkpoint somewhere in town at least 4 days a week.

that seems excessive...
but maybe that’s just me.

Just sayin'
It’s a sloppy story that neither the writer or AOL editors corrected. That’s all.
What natives refer to as the name of a town is fine. What needs to be accurately reported is a different story.

Kennedy
He was with the Memphis Redbirds first team in 1998. I was a big fan of his with the Angels.

LOL
Well, at one point I think at least one person here said the Cubs should sign Adam Kennedy, so I figured that was Cub related enough.

I'd like to see us sign
Eva Longoria.
If a quality pitching start is 3 runs and 6 innings, then a quality hitting day is 1 for 4.
No, he was with Oakland then
But Kennedy was on the Cardinals when Josh Hancock died while DUI.

Is it just me...
Or have the number of DUI’s among sports players went through the roof lately. Damn I make a year what they make a game or 2 and I can afford a cab. They should start suspending these guys just like if it was a failed steroid test.
Two reasons, I think.
One is, there are much stronger crackdowns on DUI in many jurisdictions.
And, I think they are getting more widely reported, especially when public figures are involved.

Why the stronger crackdown
I would like to believe it is for the right reasons…but I suspect some of it is in response to a down economy. Counties, Cities, etc are trying to generate revenue to combat the revenue they are losing from jobs leaving the area, businesses leaving, consumer spending decreases, etc.
I would also say that the explosion of social media and the such has made keeping run ins with the law out of the public eye more and more difficult.

Agreed.
And not just for baseball players, but for everyone.
