I apologize Al.

I’m not sure how to cite a tweet. I’m new to twitter. The point of this post is Buster Olney is reporting that Pujols is either going to sign an extension or plans to become a FA. He will block all trades

Well, that makes sense from his standpoint.

It will be interesting to see what happens.

Wow.

Prince Albert is using allllll his leverage on these guys. They’ve got a little over 2 weeks to get this thing done. Pressure is seriously on!

Damned if they do, damned if they don’t. Tough spot for the Red Birds!

Scott Bora$ is satan.

Here, I fixed the post.

I made it a link to an ESPN.com article on this subject, which has more info.

no Albert

dont listen to that Goon…you are worth $45 mil a year and the Cards should be the ones to give it to you after the discount they demanded of you…stick it to them

Seriously, if Albert isn't signed

do the Cards go ‘over the top’ trying to obtain a solid enough squad to win the division? Even if they have to deal Shelby Miller?

by timh815 on Jan 29, 2011 12:29 PM CST reply actions

no

they’re going to need guys like Shelby Miller and Colby Rasmus, low-cost potential stars on the roster in order to even be able to keep Pujols

I'm thinkin' that...

…that Matt Holiday signing last year isn’t looking as good about now.

Pujols has said time and time again in the St Louis press

1. this is not about money
2. he wants to be a lifetime Cardinal

now, we shall see how true his words are soon

Probably already seen by many but not posted in this thread..

The same Pujols info but this stuck out. Phil Rogers speculating but hey..

Young said last weekend he doesn’t plan to be a DH forever, and the Napoli addition would make it easy to trade him or Ian Kinsler as scouts believe second base is Young’s best fit. The Rockies are interested in Young and at one point this winter the Rangers were offering to pay half of the $48 million left on his contract. Dealing Kinsler, guaranteed only $13.5 million over the next two years, might be more palatable and bring a higher return.

Either Young or Kinsler would upgrade two spots for the Cubs — second base and leadoff. The Rangers’ need is a starting pitcher to replace Cliff Lee. Nolan Ryan loves Andrew Cashner, but it’s hard to imagine the Cubs trading a second pitching prospect after putting Chris Archer in the Matt Garza trade.

Kinsler in Cubbie Blue would be a pipe dream but it would be beyond awesome.

I know its a pipe dream

but what would it take as well as Cashner to land Young or even Kinsler?

Young as in Michael Young?

Absolutely not. Much past his prime and detracts from the current agenda of the upper management to allow bad contracts to run out.

As for Ian Kinsler? The Rangers can have anyone they want in the organization aside from Brett Jackson, Starlin Castro and possibly Matt Szczur.

I'd prefer to add McNutt to the "near" untouchable

list.

But I might consider him for Kinsler.

A middle infield of Kinsler and Castro? Might be the best in baseball offensively—certainly would be in the NL.

Moreso than Utley and Rollins?

Certainly 1 and 1a

Maybe for now

but as good as those 2 are, they have both been hurt alot in the last 2 years. when healthy, they are great, but they havent been 100% at the same time in a while.

please

please please please go to the american league. im tired of pujols killing us all the time. i cant see the cards dropping the ball on this one. talk about a public relations nightmare. i mean really who can afford this guy??/

by NOMAR on Jan 30, 2011 5:54 PM CST reply actions

He is really drawing a hard line here

I see this going along the lines that the jeter contract did, in that st louis makes him a offer and if he doesn’t like it they tell himbtobtest the waters…..I know he’s leveraging st louis but he has to know there’s only so many teams out there that have openings and the money. That being said, im still curious as to why the experts seem to think he’ll go to chicago and why the cubs are drivers of the market
