ALDS Day 3, NLDS Day 2: Home Runs Decide Saturday's Games
The excitement level was ratcheted down quite a bit Saturday, unless you were a fan of one of the winning teams. The Brewers won when the Diamondbacks failed to intentionally walk Prince Fielder -- kind of a no-brainer -- who then slammed a massive home run that put the game away, though Arizona was having trouble getting men on base anyway. Ryan Howard and Raul Ibanez smacked home runs and the Phillies blew out the Cardinals in a game that wasn't as close as the 11-6 score. And Robinson Cano had a career type day with a grand slam and six RBI as the Yankees smashed the Tigers 9-3.
And this is supposed to be an era, and a playoff, where pitchers dominate.
Three games take place today, after which all four series will have two games completed. Details and TV schedule after the jump.
All TV games for the division series are on TBS unless otherwise noted.
2 pm CDT for Yankees/Tigers; Yankees lead the series 1-0. Brian Anderson (play-by-play) will call the game alongside Ron Darling (analyst) and John Smoltz (analyst) with Tom Verducci as a reporter. This game is on TNT.
4 pm CDT for Diamondbacks/Brewers. Milwaukee leads the series 1-0. Victor Rojas (play-by-play), Joe Simpson (analyst) will call the action with Sam Ryan as a reporter.
7:30 pm CDT for Cardinals/Phillies. Philadelphia leads the series 1-0. Dick Stockton (play-by-play) will call the game alongside Bob Brenly (analyst) with Craig Sager as a reporter. Well, at least this game will have one good commentator.

Not me.
I’m actually rooting for supporting wishing well to the Milwaukee Brewers. There, I said it. Going into the season, they were my pick to win the division. And they gave me the satisfaction of being right about that for once. And I just think they’re a very well-constructed team. It makes sense that they’re winning.
Plus, don’t forget folks. If the Brew Crew sweeps the D’Backs, we get some slight vengeful satisfaction after what Arizona did to the Cubs in 2007.
I am happy to see the Tigers succeed and, uh, yeah, go Phillies, I guess. What the hell. Anyone but the Cardinals.
Baseball is pitching, offensive production, baserunning and defense.
