2011 World Series Game 5: Cardinals at Rangers, Monday 10/24, 7:05 CT

Derek Holland of the Texas Rangers walks off the mound to a standing ovation after being removed in the ninth inning during Game Four of the MLB World Series against the St. Louis Cardinals at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, Texas. (Photo by Ezra Shaw/Getty Images)

For only the third time since 2002 (2003 and 2009 the others), we will have a World Series that will go at least six games. This one's been good, too; three games not really decided until the late innings and the one blowout did at least have the Albert Pujols Show to keep it interesting.

The last game at Rangers Ballpark before it heads back to St. Louis will be tonight. One of the teams will be ahead three games to two. Will it be the Cardinals behind Chris Carpenter or the Rangers behind C.J. Wilson?

Last night's winner, Derek Holland, is a big-time tweeter. Worth following, I'd say.

Full game details after the jump.

ha!

I’ll be watching the game from New Glarus tonight. Had a pint at the brewery this afternoon and will be drinking Moon Man.

Yeah, well I'm in Kansas.

So Spotted Cow down here is at a premium. Requires me to (1) be in Wisconsin, (2) buy it, (3) not drink it immediately, and (4) hide it from thieves.

I've been able to find Goose Island brews in Metro West Boston

It’s awesome to see it so widely distributed. Matilda FTW!

Although it would be odd if 312 wasn’t actually brewed in the 312 area code.

They have the reproduction of one of my paintings

hanging in their new brewery (it’s a painting of some spotted cows of course). Sorry, just had to brag there. It’s my little claim to fame.

FYI, Strat-O-Matic Baseball did a replay of this World Series.

Albert Pujols hit three homeruns, Josh Hamilton hit .375 and the Rangers won the World Series in six games.

Brings in a righty to intentionally walk a guy, then goes to a different righty.

This game has convinced me

that people who think Tony LaRussa is a genius are morons.

Also, if Ron Washington and Tony LaRussa can manage a team to the World Series, almost any manager can.

by Josh Timmers on Oct 24, 2011 10:38 PM CDT reply actions

Not after tonight's game

Because I don’t think you could call what LaRussa or Washington did as “competent” tonight.
