ALDS Day 4: Rangers/Rays, Yankees/Tigers

There wasn't much activity here during Sunday's games. Maybe you were all watching football, I dunno.

If you were, you missed the Brewers blowing out the Diamondbacks when Kirk Gibson wouldn't take Brad Ziegler out after his balk. That clearly rattled him and he couldn't throw strikes. When he finally did, Milwaukee pounded him.

And count me surprised that the Cardinals were able to come back off Cliff Lee. That makes this series more interesting, although St. Louis still has to face Roy Oswalt, and if it gets to Game 5, Roy Halladay again.

Also, just what kind of dance is Jose Valverde doing here?

Full details of today's games after the jump.

Star-divide

I'm guessing

this was supposed to be on the front page. I don’t get why it didn’t show up there since the “front page” button was checked, but I just hit “Publish changes” and it appeared.

Thanks.

This keeps happening and the SBN tech people are trying to figure out why. So far, they haven’t been able to.

I could be wrong, but I seem to remember

Ron Santo once calling Valverde a hot dog with relish which cracked me up.

That sounds like something Santo would have said about him.

I remember that Santo was not a big fan of Valverde’s antics on the mound (to put it mildly). It’s too bad Ron never saw us hit Valverde (career 0.74 ERA in 24 appearances vs. the Cubs) – I think that winning a game because Valverde blew a save would have made Ron ecstatic.

Ron criticizing Valverde for being a hotdog was the pot calling the kettle black.

I miss Santo though.

Guys, hitting is not about muscle. It's simple physics. Calculate the velocity, v, in relation to the trajectory, t, in which g, gravity, of course remains a constant.... It's not complicated. - George Costanza

Wow, unkind 7th inning

To the Rays. Using four pitchers (at least) to try and get through it.

'not much activity'

that’s an understatement! It’s been dead here. I’ll accept my fair share of blame, I’m a Cubs guy. If it’s not a NLC team…I gather a lot of info from BCB. Ok, ok, I follow NL more than that, but AL teams do nothing for me. I picked Crew to win NL Central waaaay early on this year (send your donations to my fund- contact me for info…) but do not think they’ll represent NL in WS…it’d be NICE… but I dunno. Other than that… I’m watching the right sidebar for 2012 Cubs baseball. :] (Gawd, I’ll prolly hate myself for that in about 215 days)

The awesomeness that is Justin Verlander

The new version on Nolan Ryan, over 120 pitches and he’s still throwing 100mph.

I haven't watched a baseball game in about a month.

Yet I’m on BCB nearly every hour.

Love watching Verlander pitch

Love seeing the Yanks lose, still torn between TB and Texas.

Not surprised

Count me not surprised by the Cards. This has the makings of a 2006 replay with the Tigers / Cards World Series, w/Theriot playing David Eckstein. 4 games today, with the possibility of three series ending.
