I don't think the Angels give him that much money and time Al.
Just from what I’ve been reading, I think he could command up to two years with a one year option and $13 million per. Who knows though.
I’m just glad he won’t go to Minneapolis.

It might not be that much $
… but the Angels seem like the right destination for him.

Aramis was helped by hitting at Wrigley
Clubhouse Confidential did a segment on Aramis and basically showed his splits were much better home than away. They speculated it might not have been a great idea for Aramis to decline the option.
However, they did state he is one of the few available third basemen and that’ll help him on the market.
(they basically threw out his 2010 numbers because of his injury, too)
Miami?
If they don’t sign Reyes (or Fielder or Pujols) could they maybe turn their attention to A-Ram? Didn’t Ozzie and Aramis profess mutual admiration at one time?

Maybe he winds up here in Detroit!
Tigers have a huge need at 3B right now.
Rumors in the local news that he might have been contacted by the tigers.

Then maybe the Cubs could acquire Inge ...
… as a stop gap since the Cubs hole at 3b is huger than the Tigers hole. But wouldn’t the Tigers be better off getting Buehrle? They do have Inge, Betemit, and Kelly to play 3b. Not great options but adequate.

Inge?
I think I’d rather have Ian Stewart. Inge is awful, and old.

Inge is 34, still has a decent glove and is supposedly a good "clubhouse guy"
whatever that means. Came back after a month in AAA, accepted his demotion without any drama. He has always been a favorite of mine, not real sure why. Came up as a catcher, moved to 3b early in his career. I still like him, and prefer him to DeWitt (I’d prefer Bill Madlock to DeWitt, and Madlock is what, 60 years old?). Stewart is clearly the better option, I just through Inge out there since CFS70 mentioned Detroit as a landing spot for A-Ram. In any case, the Cubs have a huge hole at 3b and only bad in-house options. But I am confident the Dynamic Duo of Theo and Jed can find us a great 3b overlooked by all other teams.

It's fun to speculate
and something to talk about, but personally I have no interest in where he signs. Great hitter, dog otherwise, and has been throughout his career.
Sorry to sound harsh

not a leader, not a winner either
just a guy who will put some numbers, horrible now defensively. I think these GM’s are smarter than you think. Ours was and we need a third baseman. I don’t think he will get close to that contract.
I don't disagree with your assessment at all
I prefer Bill Mueller types than A-Ram types, but power is still one of the most sought-after commodities. He’ll get a deal somewhere, probably 3 years at 13-15 aav.

Miami
not as much money as he hoped. Will average about 130 games a year.

I'm more intrigued
who we get as compensation in the draft.
10-25-2011. Theo Epstein joins the Cubs. Now, the fun begins.
I'm thinking out of the box
and somewhere like Houston. The Astros have a lot of money, no talent and are heading to the American League after this season. The Astros aren’t going to win anything with or without Ramirez, but they need to put a respectable team on the field.
Admittedly, I’m just spitballing here. I don’t know how likely it is. But the Angels have a big reputation for not making logical moves. They could have had Adrian Beltre last year, but they lowballed him. Somehow I think they’ll screw this up too.
I think A-Ram was saying one of the reasons he opted out was...he wants to win...
…I look for him to land in Detroit…which would be a real good fit for him.

I think Detroit makes sense
A-Ram would be a huge upgrade over Inge, plus the Tigers have a couple of huge contracts coming off the books (Carlos Guillen and Magglio Ordonez), so they would be able to afford him.

I could see him in a Tigers uniform.
So that would give them a Cabrera, VMart, ARam middle of the order, no? Not too shabby.

I think he said that
because he didn’t want to admit he was leaving for the money. If it was just about winning, he wouldn’t have made it clear he’d stay in Chicago if they made him a multi-year deal.
Still, I think it highly unlikely that he signs with Houston. More because Houston won’t make him an offer more than anything else though.
What about the White Sox though? They make sense, except that they just got burned on the Adam Dunn signing and they may not have any money.
I can’t buy Detroit right now. They just seem to have bigger priorities. But I could be wrong.
The Sox seem(ed) pretty committed to Brent Morel...
…even though he had an awful season overall at the plate. He did have a late-season power surge and he’s only 24. There is a potential fit there for Aramis, but I’d be pretty surprised if KW went in that direction.

tigers or angels, depending on what happens with CJ wilson
tigers lineup would be stacked with aramis
THEOOOOOOOOO (and Hoyer)
Detroit.
Where have you gone, Kiko Calero. A nation turns its lonely eyes to you.
If someone gives Aramis 15 million then they are overpaying
Adrian Beltre came off a way better season and was younger and a gold glover. He is making 16 million per year.
Aramis is worth about 12 million at the most, considering his poor defense.
