True story
Because it was just me, my wife and my three year old daughter for Thanksgiving, I decided to make a duck this year instead of a turkey.
Every time my daughter eat a piece of duck, she said “AFLAC!” Then she said she “We’re eating the AFLAC duck!”
Was she happy or sad about that?

It's perfectly fitting for BCB...
… Ozzie has been a regular point of discussion here. And posters here routinely discuss Ozzie’s comments about Wrigley. Just about every year before the White Sox series at Wrigley, Ozzie make some remark about not liking Wrigley. Every time Cub fans would take the bait and react in rage.
I’ve always thought that the situation was just as Guillen said above, the other stuff was just to tweak Cubs fans.
On one of Mose’s lost tablets were these other Commandments: Thou must love and worship Wrigley Field. Thou shalt not speak the name Wrigley Field in vain.
It's clear to me
that Ozzie’s comments about Wrigley were designed to do exactly what they did — raise outrage among Cubs fans. It worked. There is clearly method to Ozzie’s madness.
And the Cubs will still play Ozzie’s team exactly as many times this year as they did during his time with the White Sox — one three-game series at home, one on the road.

You know, there are times...
that you really come off as little more than a troll.
Thank you for reminding us that Ozzie doesn’t like Wrigley. As if even the casual fan hasn’t heard it a couple of hundred times already. The funny thing is that while I haven’t read it, I’ve seen snippets, and have been told it was a great interview. His quote on the DH was priceless, as an example. Shame that what you took away as worth repeating from it was a snipe at Wrigley.
A couple of thoughts. I don’t think that Ozzie (or the Sox in general) are discussed here nearly as much as you think. And one doesn’t need to be enamored with the Cubs, Wrigley Field, or even BCB here. Most of us would just prefer new topics of discussion, and not beating old horses to death. Just sayin’.

Oh, and by the way,
just as an example:
“I’ve never managed without a designated hitter, but I’ll get used to it. I don’t like the DH. I have a bulldog and named him DH because he is so lazy. He just sits there, eats and sleeps.”
“I want everyone with the Marlins to know I’m not who people think I am. People say, “Ozzie Guillen is the guy who throws players under the bus.” I never throw a player under the bus if he’s playing the right way."
Emphasis mine.
It’s good stuff. I’m going to have to give it a read this weekend. You know, cause that’s how much I hate Ozzie. That I’ll pay retail for ESPN the Magazine to hear what’s on his mind.
by Damen Jackson on Dec 1, 2011 9:52 AM CST up reply actions
That quote about the DH is hilarious.
I’m sure Adam Dunn is going to love reading that.

How the most memorable quote from this interview for Crawdad was yet another snipe at Wrigley speaks volumes about him.

Swing and a miss!
It’s revealing how you read and interpret things. Did I cut out the part of Ozzie’s where he said he loves Wrigley?
I thought Guillen’s comment on the DH was funny.

Hard to believe...
… that this silly thread inspired such a response. I don’t believe the topic nor the nature of picture is the reason for the reaction. If I had not posted then I would not have been surprised if someone else posted it here. There has been threads about fans having sex at The Cell, about Ozzie writing a note about LeBron leaving Cleveland and all manner of Sox discussions. As you described it, Cubs fans have a “visceral reaction” to anything Sox related and the fact that I a Sox fan posted this here is more than some can suffer, even if there have been many threads in a similar vein here before but those were started by Cubs fans so that apparently makes it ok.
by DrCrawdad on Dec 1, 2011 3:55 PM CST via mobile up reply actions
It's not about you as a Sox fan.
It’s about you, period. People are tired of your passive aggressive BS, your posts that are nothing but a means to stir crap up, and your unending quest to prove or disprove some grand generalizations about Cubs and Sox fans that so few people give a crap about.
Your intentions are incredibly transparent. You posted this so that people would say “who cares?” to which you’ll respond “OMG AL LURKS ON WHITE SOX SITES SO CUBS FANS CARE ABOUT THE SOX!” You want people to say “this doesn’t matter” so you can say “IF I DIDN’T POST IT SOMEONE ELSE WOULD I GUARANTEE IT” like it’s your duty to police this blog or something.
You always try and make it into this huge Cubs fans vs. Sox fans debate to hide your individual actions. I can’t speak for all Cubs fans, or claim to know what all Sox fans think. I just know what you do on this blog is sad and I wish you’d stop.

Yeah, I saw Ozzie mentioned once or twice
Outside the context of maybe Z would follow him.
But generally, it was a random comment by somebody then a discussion that blew up when you started claiming obsession by Cubs fans.

Patently false
First, your claim that it was “one or twice” is wrong and proved so by the links provided below. And even Al would seem to agree with me and disagree with your dismissal.
Second, “But generally, it was a random comment by somebody then a discussion that blew up when you started claiming obsession by Cubs fans.” Well this is generally wrong but probably just straight out wrong.
Where have I ever said that Cubs fans are obsessed with the Sox? See my profile comments for details in that regard. But I do not believe I’ve ever claimed that Cubs fans are obsessed with the Sox. It’s generally Cubs fans here who toss around the obsession label/put-down.
What do I think many Cubs fans here (and other places) have? Problems with being candid, honesty and denial. And I’ll try to illustrate.
Imagine someone boldly claiming, “I’m a strict vegetarian. So strict in fact that I never any kind of animal product” And you hear the person say that over and over again. Then you observe the person eating a turkey dinner on Thanksgiving, eating ham on Easter. And going as far at regularly eating beef sandwiches with his work buddies.
So then next time you hear that bold statement you with a degree of shock say, “Well why then did you eat turkey on Thanksgiving, ham on Easter and even regularly eat beef sandwiches with your work buddies.”
The response? “Well of course I eat Turkey on Thanksgiving, ham on Easter and eat beef sandwiches with my friends and meat on a few other occasions. What do you expect me to do? I do like food.”
In the end it doesn’t matter but someone who heard the bold statement probably would question the claimant’s honesty and why there is this denial.
That’s how this strikes me here when I read comments about the Sox, discussion threads about the Sox and then read these sweeping bold claims that there are not Sox discussions here.
This past season I steered clear of BCB. In fact what drew me back into posting here was the frequency and the amount of Sox discussions beginning near the end of the regular season.
But in the end, it doesn’t matter. Do and say what you will. And I will begin steering clear again of BCB.

“So long everybody.”
OMG, you've got to be kidding...
This is a hysterical comparison…..you know I never really had an opinion about you one way or another, but your comment has persuaded me that any negative comments about you may be correct. You couldn’t have just started feeling this way because of this thread. It’s funny to me that you’ve tried to represent a non-stereotypical Sox fan, when in fact you seem to be the real thing.

Correct me if I am wrong but didn’t Oz have one more year on his contract?? Seems like he was demanding an extension and instead his ego was hurt and he didn’t want them anymore.

Yes
Ozzie was under contract with the Sox thru 2012, that’s why the Sox got compensation from FL. Im sure Ozzie knew the Sox were tired of his shtick. No doubt Ozzie pushed for the extension to confirm it.
Ozzie got 4 yrs and very good money. Good for him.
