Cubs fan finds signed Cardinals cap
Associated Press
PEORIA, Ill. -- A die-hard Chicago Cubs fan has found a 2011 World Series championship cap autographed by rival St. Louis Cardinals players -- and he wants to give it back.
Joe Couri tells the Journal Star in Peoria he was driving along Interstate 74 in central Illinois when traffic backed up because of an accident. He says he saw the hat among debris on an off-ramp.
The 38-year-old from Brimfield says the hat appears to be signed by David Freese, Yadier Molina, Jason Motte and other players.
Couri wants to return the hat to its owner despite the heated rivalry between the two teams. He says whoever comes forward will have to know about an unexpected signature on the hat or "have a picture of himself wearing it."

Well shoot, that didn't work.

On A Related Note
When I get Cardinals stuff as a giveaway in St. Louis, I usually give it to a Cardinals fan I know in town. This season, I gave my best friend a Willie McGee bobblehead doll wearing the powder blue uni. I got that in a giveaway on August 26. I was on my back from Chicago and saw the Cards play the Pirates. I thought the Cardinals were out of it then.
Good things come to those who wait... and wait....and wait.
I'm a little disappointed.
I thought this would be a story about a Cubs fan who wandered away from a Wrigley Field tour group and fell into a vat of black slime.
Baseball is pitching, offensive production, baserunning and defense.
It was on the front sports page of the Peoria Journal Star
complete with a picture of the hat. Nice thing for Joe to do but it was probably the same Cub fan who gave back the Freese home run, was driving home and realized wait a minute, what do I want with all this Cardinal garbage and tossed it out the window.
