2011 SB Nation Rookie Of The Year Awards
MLB will announce its 2011 awards next week, but here at SB Nation, we are going to get ahead of the game by having our annual award announcements this week.
Today, we announce the results of the 2011 SB Nation Rookie of the Year voting and the winners were pretty clear-cut in both leagues: the Mariners' Michael Pineda in the AL and the Braves' Craig Kimbrel in the NL.
To mirror BBWAA voting, each blog got two ballots. As has been my practice in previous years, BCB's cartoonist, Mike, received the second BCB ballot. Voting was, as in prior years, for a first, second and third place finisher and points awarded on a 5-3-1 scale. As a NL site, BCB voted for National League players only. Here are the two BCB ballots:
Al: Kimbrel, Worley, Freeman Mike: Kimbrel, Freeman, Espinosa
The remaining schedule for SB Nation awards is:
Tuesday, Nov. 8: AL Cy Young Award Wednesday, Nov. 9: NL Cy Young Award Thursday, Nov. 10: AL Most Valuable Player Award Friday, Nov. 11: NL Most Valuable Player Award
We did not do Manager of the Year voting this year. Full results after the jump.

I have done zero research on this, but it always seems like pitchers win ROYs more often than position players.

Research
The last pitcher to win a BBWAA ROY award in the NL was Dontrelle Willis, in 2003.
There have been more in the AL — Neftali Feliz, Andrew Bailey, Justin Verlander and Huston Street, since then.

No "Manager of the Year " Award?
There goes your chance to vote for Quade.

Me either
I would vote for Quade for...
… “Worst Manager of the Year”. If there were such an award.

I've never seen anyone manage more terribly than he did..

Dispute in four-ish words
Dusty, Neifi, Starting Line-Up
Errrr...No
No it wasn’t. I realize we are all still suffering from PDBTSD (post Dusty Baker traumatic stress disorder). But Dusty left the Cubs after 2006. It only seems a lifetime ago. For Dusty’s next gig, he replaced Interim Manager of the Reds….Pete Mackanin. Who, through an unfortunate 6 degrees of Dusty Baker reference, should never be allowed to manage the Cubs.
LOL Wiki Criticism of Dusty Baker
Baker, an old-school baseball traditionalist, was scrutinized for the Cubs’ declining productivity. To sabermetricians, many of his methods were puzzling, such as his tendency to put players with a poor on-base percentage, such as Neifi Perez, Jose Macias, Juan Pierre, Corey Patterson, Willy Taveras, Jerry Hairston Jr, and Orlando Cabrera at or near the top of his lineups. Baker rejected (and still rejects) the importance of on-base percentage, arguing that extra baserunners simply “clog up the bases” unless they can run well.8 This flies in the face of statistically-oriented baseball strategy and has made Baker a frequent target among the sabermetric community. Additionally, many fans, commentators, and writers blamed his tendency to overuse pitchers and for damaging the careers of Robb Nen, Kerry Wood, Mark Prior and Edinson Volquez, earning him the nickname “Widowmaker.”
You are, of course, right.
It just FEELS like a millennium ago.

I wonder how well Kimbrel will be able to bounce back mentally
after the end of last season. I think he should be fine, but things like that can really get into your head.

He blew three key saves in September
… one against the Cardinals. If he saves that game, the Braves are in the playoffs.

There have been a number of Cubs recently
Soto, Colvin, Castro. It’s not like we have been void of any talent. We just need MORE of that talent to go around and more often.
Haters gonna hate.
Seriously, he wasn’t worth consideration, given his poor second half.

Lucas Duda, Allen Craig, and Kenley Jansen
have no business on this list whatsoever.
Jansen does, IMO.
He’s likely going to be the Dodgers closer next year. He’s a good one.

I know he has a great arm
and I just looked up his stats, and he did have a solid season, so I suppose I can stomach him. But Duda and Craig? Garbage.
