2011 SB Nation AL Cy Young Award
The only real surprise here is that the Tigers' Justin Verlander was not the unanimous winner; of the 24 AL ballots submitted (BCB, as a NL blog, did not get a vote here), he was named first on 22 of them. CC Sabathia of the Yankees got the other two first-place votes and Verlander was named second on those ballots. Cy Young voters cast ballots for their top five selections and points were awarded on a 7-4-3-2-1 basis. You'll have to wait two more days to find out how Verlander did in the AL MVP voting.
Complete voting after the jump.

Whoever didn't vote for Verlander should be
severely reprimanded….or something harsh like that.
We'll miss you Big Boy. #10 for Hall of Fame.
Shunned. Let's shun them.
The dipsticks.
There are 108 beads in a Catholic rosary and there are 108 stitches in a baseball. Who says baseball isn't a religion? (Now #8452 in the Cubs Season Ticket Wait List...)
Verlander was a beast in 2011.
More of a beast than those lame impressions that the Brewers do. Justin Verlander is one of the best pitchers in baseball and the guy should have been a unanimous Cy Young Award winner. He gets my vote for MVP, too.

Justin > CC in 2011
and its not even close. Two voters were wrong
"Hey.....Cubs win!!!" ---Harry
"Cubs win....what a lucky break!!" ---Harry
0.92 whip in 251 innings is insane
250Ks 57 walks

Yep. SBN imitating BWAA?
Not so sure that’s something I’d aspire to…
Lou Brown: "My kinda team, Charlie, my kinda team..."
Brandon McCarthy?
Those were 10 electric innings he pitched this year.
oooh, just missed by 160
in 170 2/3 innings of work, he turned in a 3.32 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 123/25 K/BB ratio while allowing only 11 home runs.

Yeah.
Worth a 5th place vote for sure.

One of those 5th places left Shields off the ballot. Worth it?
Am I the only one flagging this guy?
Seriously, do we have to wait for the money shot or a "F*** THE SOXXXXXX!" before we ban him? Doubleteapot… BAN HIM!!

Actually, both
One from the Royals, the other from the Rangers, and neither from the Rangers gave a vote to Shields. As a Rays fan, I am honestly shocked.
