Dodgers Invite Angel Guzman To Spring Training
Tweet from Dodgers beat writer Dylan Hernandez. Good luck to Guzman; good guy. Also on the list, former Cubs pitcher Jose Ascanio.

I didn't know he'd left the Cubs organization.
He’d been signed to a minor league deal, correct? Presumably that ran out.

His baseball-reference page says he became a free agent on 11/2/11.

Yes
He’s a minor league free agent. He pitched for Daytona throughout 2011.

Strange that we aren't bringing in more outside FAs
as roster fill for the system.
I guess we are going with what we already have in-house.

How do you know TheoJed won't do that?
Just because they haven’t yet, doesn’t mean they won’t.
I’m sure there will be a dozen or so NRI’s for spring training. Every team does this.

Didn't say they "won't do that"...
what I meant was that it is strange that they haven’t been at the forefront of signing minor league FAs before the all the “potentially good ones” get snapped up by other clubs.
IF we are building from within, one way to do that is to sign whatever talent we can, from other club’s systems.
Not a big deal if they don’t, but I think you over reacted to my comments!

I see your point
… however, one reason minor league FAs are minor league FAs, is that they haven’t been deemed “potentially good” by their own team, or likely others.
I see only the Dodgers having issued such invites as of now. TheoJed have plenty of time.

sad he could not stay on the field
Chronologically inept since 2060
Q: Why did Chuck Norris cross the road?
A: Ditka
Ditka's mustache can kill two stones with one bird

Definitely a good move for a cash strapped team
Angel might have enough stuff left not to embarrass the Dodgers while they’re figuring things out.
