Cubs out of running for Fielder?
Rumor from Fannation says Fielder has narrowed the field down to the Blue Jays, Rangers, and Brewers.

If true...
I hope this doesn’t mean we’re going all-in for Pujols.
I've never...
heard of this site. And their source is a guy out of Cleveland of all places?! Yeah, not putting any stock into this one.
The link cites "reports".
… but doesn’t say what reports or when or where they were made.

If Reyes can get six...
…it doesn’t seem all that far-fetched that Prince will get his eight. I seriously doubt the Brewers would do that, though. The Rangers and Blue Jays both seem like good fits. He can be their first baseman for the next five to six years and then DH for the remainder of his deal.

It would be nuts to limit teams right now.
Fielder will make more on than pojhos off this contract, he won’t sign until Albert has signed.

ESPN's Jason Churchill had this to say in response to the report
For one, eliminating 27 teams by Day 1 of the winter meetings isn’t Boras’ MO. Never has been, never will be.
For Fielder, it’s about the money. The Cubs will be in the running up until they take themselves out of the running by refusing to meet Fielder’s monetary demands.
Pat Riley is the devil.

Thinks the Cubs are in play for Fielder:
“You hear rumors about Seattle, Toronto and Baltimore being interested in Fielder but insiders say no. I think Cubs are team to keep eye on.”

I'm not wild about signing Fielder
but I’d have to see the terms of the deal, first. If we could pay more money per for a shorter contract length, that might be good.
I would guess Boras will push for the best combination of money/years that still sets up Prince for one more big contract

That might be Ryan Howard's contract then
5/125 is probably the range he’s looking for on a “shorter” deal.
If the Cubs don't land Fielder, I suspect that it'll be LaHair given the nod to be the opening day 1B.
I just have a feeling given the comments Theo said about him when he was doing his round of press conferences.
Yeah
I think it’s looking more and more like LaHair. Although they might get a right-handed platoon partner for him.
Though, I will say since I believe his 2008 numbers are so far back in his development if you look at his 8 games vs LHP...
He’s hit .250/.357/.417(8 Games/14PA). Given time to get a real look vs LHP, he may not even need one.
both the 2008 and 2011 numbers are meaningless

Nah, he played for the Giants...
…make that, the American Giants. And the Stars. And the Grays. And the Crawfords. And the Blue Birds. And the Black Yankees. And the Eagles. And the Tigers. And the Black Barons. And the Buckeyes. And the Monarchs.
Saw him once outside a rooftop before a Cubs game. He was telling stories about the good ol’ days and barnstorming. Awesome stuff. His fingers were unbelievably gnarled and pointing all different ways.

Didn't the Brewers already offer him that?

Not that I'm aware of
Usually they are said to have offered 5/100. Recently there was a report that they could possibly extend that to 6/120.
as of friday 5/100
with ESPN saying they might go 6/120 as you said

This is all posturing until there is a public offer on the table for Pujols or Fielder.
Somebody’s gotta set the bar, I just don’t know who’s ballsy enough to do it first.
