NL Central Notes: Bedard signs with Pirates, K-Rod Accept Arbitration With Brewers, Houston's new GM
Haven't really seen these topic posted or discussed much here.
1) Francisco Rodriguez. I think K-Rod accepting arbitration really hurts the Brewers' flexibility. It's discussed in this fangraphs article rather well.
2) Erik Bedard. Also, (if he stays healthy) I think Pittsburgh got a great deal by signing Bedard for 4.5 million. Alright he's often injured but if he stays healthy he can help them compete and even bring them a nice prospect at the trading deadline. I was hoping the Cubs would go after him. It's a 4.5 million contract with 500k in incentives per twitter
3) Jeff Luhnow . Houston's new GM sounds a lot like Theo. Good thing they're in the AL soon. Link

Luhnow used to be with the Cardinals.
Between that and losing Octavio Dotel to Detroit, no wonder Cardinals fans are upset.

In fact, Walt Jocketty was reportedly fired for not believing in Luhnow's philosophies.
That’s a lot of respect given to a director of player development, and a major blow to the Cardinals organization.
Glad to see K-Rod stick it to the Brewers...
…NOT a good day for top 2 NL Central teams.

Could be his loss - the Brewers really only owe him $2M
They can waive him before the season begins.
And enjoy a nice long talk with the PA, followed by a lawsuit.
Good luck convincing the PA that K-Rod isn’t one of your 7 best relievers.
The Brewers have also signed...
…shortstop Alex Gonzalez to a one-year deal. Very light-hitting defensive specialist going into his age 35 season. Better in the field than Yuni but no one to get too worried about.
