For Tony Thomas, who at one time was a pretty good prospect.

There goes my sleeper prospect

The tools were there, but Thomas is plagued by inconsistency. Good luck to him with Boston.

What do you know about Coello?

Seems like a decent pickup, considering our relative lack of young righty setup arms …

Sarcasm?

I hope so, because young, righty setup arms are the backbone of our system.

Converted catcher

who got bounced out of organized baseball and ended up in the Golden League, where he was actually given a chance to pitch. He was good enough there to get signed by the Red Sox and actually pitched six games in the majors last year. He’s got a low 90s fastball and a forkball. Other pitches are mediocre.so he’s purely a middle reliever prospect.

converted catcher who misses a lot of bats

didnt we just sign one of them for 3 years

Can someone please tell

me if I’m happy about this. I know what Tony Thomas is, but I don’t know anything about the potential or role of the other guy.

DEJESUS!!!

Peripherals

all look good. Worth a try as a RH middle guy.

Thomas really never put it together, much to my chagrin… I saw Tony play many times at FSU. The Cubs have 2B types… so Thomas was definitely expendable.

This one probably goes down in the annals as a very minor deal.

If he has options left, he probably winds up at Iowa...

… as an injury replacement.

According to AzPhil's site

He has three options left. I really like this deal now. A potentially effective pen arm for a guy soon to be passed in the organization by Flaherty, Lee, and DJLM. And already was behind Barney.

I wish TT well. Our glut of MI guys will be prioritized in the years to come. It’s better to get moderate potential value for them (like this) than not.

that's a legit season at any age

82 hits and 130 Ks in 107 innings, pretty darn good. Probably a minor deal when all is said and done, but always nice to have another live arm around
