Spring Training question

Does anybody know what the cubs training schedule will be over the next few days? I know they don't have any games, but I'm in town and I was hoping to catch some practice before the games start next week.

They generally practice at Fitch Park...

… around 10 am, on days before the spring game schedule starts.

Better hurry, as games start on Sunday.

Appreciate it

Yea, I’m going to the game on Monday but I have some time this weekend to kill so I thought I would check out a practice.

Better Yet, have your own spring training fantasy camp!!!

Don’t just watch the players, BE the Players:

Here’s your schedule,

9:00 AM wake up – take two ibuprofen, eat a piece of toast with honey and drink a bottle of water to tone down the hangover.
9:30 Stretch
10:00 Take 10 hacks in a batting cage, then stand around and talk to people
10:45 Gatorade Break
11:00 Slide 3 times in the grass
11:15 Play Catch
11:30 Jog 100 yards, then walk back to the start. Repeat 5×. TAKE YOUR TIME! Don’t want to pull anything.
12:00 Shower (optional)
12:30 Lunch
1:00 Meet with Athletic Equipment Representative to collect free gear
1:30 Leave facility and head to the golf course
2:00 Meet Golf Club manufacturer and collect new set of clubs
2:30 Tee Off
7:00 Dinner at Steak House (expect owner to comp it)
9:00 – lights out Do What You Want

Next Morning: repeat

Sounds good

Except I’ll leave out the golf part. I am truly terrible at golf and can’t stand to play it enough to get better.

At the risk of annoying Al

I urge everyone to check out The Cub Reporter. The amazing Arizona Phi is giving his usual insightful daily reports on the work outs at Fitch. By far the most info you will get on the Cubs ST anywhere.
Gurbal, AZ Phil has been reporting crowds of a few hundred per workout. Sounds like a fun thing to go to so please post your own report if you go.

Is there some bad blood or something?

No matter, really, because I’ll second that recommendation.

AZPhil is a fantastic resource for not only Spring Training, but also rehab stints and prospect info, and is all over other games that take place throughout the year at Cubs Camp in AZ. Plus, he’s a witch with the payroll info.

I don’t view it as competition, but rather BCB and his work complement each other. I enjoy them both.

No bad blood at all.

just generic guilt in mentioning other sites. I know Al is a fan of AZ Phil. The rest of TCR can be very snarky, but a fun read. It is by far the most testosterone driven fan site and women never post there, but I enjoy reading it a lot. It is the only other site I check out on a daily basis.

Don't mind me , I feel guilty about a lot of stuff.

Obviously it is a very different site from BCB. Great to read but not too friendly for posting.

Yes and no on friendly

If you ask AzPhil a reasonable question, he’ll generally answer it honestly. Can’t ask for more from him. Other posters, notsomuch.

Phil is the best

and a great mystery no one even at TCR has met him as far as I can tell.

The rest of the blog is actually pretty funny and interesting to read. A lot snarky
assesments of the Cubs and other thing, but not a good place for outsiders, especially women to post.

I imagine I have seen him.

I’ve been at Fitch Park several times, and I know he’s there usually most days in spring training. But he never IDs himself.
