I dont think the cubs are going to be very good overall next year. Obviously in a transition phase with new managers, owner, players and overall direction of team. I see positive signs towards the future for the cubs but not for a few years. I think it was a poor decision by the cubs to tie so much money up in a old 1st baseman. And we all se the problems in outfield with fukudome and soriano. Ramirez is in the decline as well. I dont believe Soto deserves to be starting catcher either. I do believe Bryd, Castro, Dewitt will fuel the team but I dont think it will be enough. The Cubs will have a great pitching staff I believe as Garza was a great pickup along with long time cub wood in bullpen. If Zambrano doesnt go insane, we all know Dempsters good for some wins. But as I stated earlier OFFENSE IS TO WEAK, so many one run losses last year and thats going to continue when you pay players big contracts they dont deserve. I believe this team really needs to rebulid there offense and it doesnt start with signing 30+ year old first baseman. Cubs will be somewhere hovering around the 80 win mark in third or 4th maybe depending on if cardinals recover from wainright gone. But the cubs cant contend with cincinnati and milwaukee if they cant score runs. I think the pitching staff will defiently have there work cut out for them.
I hope im wrong! GO CUBBIES
