I'm listing a nice handful of potential candidates for the Ninth Pick. Each will have his own tag beneath the post. The more we keep their comments in the proper place, the less often I'll have to update. Thanks for your interest and input. Players are in alphabetical order
Matt Barnes 6-4 RHP Connecticut. Fastball only 90-93, but good secondary offerings.
Trevor Bauer 6-1 RHP UCLA. Mid-90's fastball with a decent looking deuce.
Archie Bradley 6-4 RHP HS in Oklahoma. Committed to Oklahoma to play baseball and football if he doesn't sign.
Jackie Bradley, Jr 5-10 CF South Carolina. Teams with 2010 Cubs snub Bryan Harper on Gamecocks squad.
Jed Bradley 6-4 LHP Georgia Tech. Fourth ranked prospect in the 2010 Cape Cod Summer League by BA.
Dylan Bundy 6-1 RHP HS in Oklahoma. Same town as recent Cubs pick Austin Kirk.
Brian Goodwin 6-1 OF Miami Dade CC. Suspended at North Carolina. Went to CC to be able to play and be draft-eligible.
Sonny Gray 6-1 RHP Vanderbilt. Didn't sign as the 27th Round Pick in 2008. Could well be a Top 5 pick.
Danny Hultzen 6-2 LHP Virginia. Best college lefty starter around.
Taylor Jungmann 6-6 RHP Texas. I would have to include a tall RHP candidate from Texas, but this guy deserves it.
Francisco Lindor 5-11 SS HS Florida. Wilken likes middle infielder types as much as he likes right handed pitchers.
Mikie Mahtook 6-1 CF Louisiana State. Jim Hendry will know all about this guy, as he is friends with LSU's coach.
Daniel Norris 6-1 LHP HS Tennessee.
George Springer 6-3 OF Connecticut. Top bat in college class.
Bubba Starling 6-5 OF HS in Kansas. Two, check that 3 sport star in HS. Committed to Nebraska, but will go baseball on a solid offer.
