One thing
it said that Colvin had returned and plans to continue to do so…which based on the writeup speaks volumes to his dedication to be the best he can be…isnt that taking a slot away from a younger prospect that might need this camp to take that next step?
God the Cubs need those ST facilities BAD so they can have 40-50 guys do this a winter but I think this all bodes well for our minor league system and hopefully the Ricketts decide to pour a TON of money into Camp Colvin
It probably does take a slot away
but, I’d rather it go to someone like Colvin who still has some development room and who will be with the big club.
Agree on the ST facilities though. It’d be nice to have more guys doing this in the offseason.

I think that's also one of the reasons why the Ricketts
are building a new facility in the DR. That will give them 2 different training facilities.

The DR facility....
…. is going to be for young players who are from the DR and fairly new to MLB and the system.
The new Mesa facility will be more for MLB players rehabbing, extended spring training, things like that.
Check out Chicago sports coverage at SB Nation Chicago
which is why
the investment in those areas is SOOOOOO needed…if you can bring in our top 50 prospects rather than the top 20 I think that will have just as much say in improving the farm system as drafting better…hand in hand
you can sign whoever you want in the draft
and pay the most and still have no prospects for it…so to all of you who say the Cubs need to spend X amount in signings this draft for you to feel all warm and cozy about the Ricketts need to also look at how much money they are planning on spending on training facilities
I thought Colvin's idea was cool.
the Buss Station. I could dig it.
Glad to see Vitters was there
If he could make a Colvin-like jump this year, that’d be great. I think we’d all be happy if he figured into the 2012 plans.
Does anyone know
Who were the other 18 players at Camp Colvin?
