Carlos Zambrano Must Be Traded to the Yankees RIGHT NOW

Carlos Zambrano Must Be Traded to the Yankees RIGHT NOW. David Lee Roth is the best Van Halen lead and Carlos Zambrano Must Be Traded to the Yankees RIGHT NOW. The Chicago Cubs will not compete in 2011 and do not require Carlos Zambrano Must Be Traded to the Yankees RIGHT NOW. These three things are facts. A bit more detailed analysis after the jump.

With the retirement of Andy Pettitte, the Yankees are shockingly now down to only one big former steroid user. Of the 12 biggest off-season contracts, the Yankees signed three (it's almost as if they're not really trying anymore)--Jeter, Soriano, and Rivera, with Mariano the only contract any other team could possibly want. The Yankees embarrassingly missed out on Crawford and Lee, instead collecting questionables like Mitre, Garcia, and Sidd Finch to back-fill their rotation. The Yankee front of Sabathia, Hughes, and Burnett is set, but not on par with the Red Sox (Beckett, Lester, Lackey, Buchholz, Matsuzaka) and only a notch above the Rays (Price, Shields, Niemann). The Yankees need another top tier pitcher--and now--if they're to compete in the AL East.

Come on, it's everything

(Right now)

Catch that magic moment

Do it right here and now

It means everything

Carlos Zambrano Must Be Traded to the Yankees RIGHT NOW

Zambrano is a decade younger than Pettitte, has a 10-point higher 127+ ERA, and is "fiery". Zambrano is due to make $18M in 2011 and 2012, with a $19M vesting option in 2012. Pettitte made $5.5M in 2010. The Yankee payroll is already north of $213M in 2011. The most comparable player we have in a large-market is probably John Lackey, who is three years older, plays for Boston, and made nearly $19M in 2010. Zambrano has averaged a 3.1 WAR over ten seasons, Lackey, a 3.9, and Pettitte, a 4.1. All three are workhorses, regularly hit 200 IP and 160 K. Regardless of your thoughts on his on- and off-field issues, Zambrano is a very good pitcher. So let's get rid of him.

Considering that Carlos is now in the prime of whatever career he's going to have, we should at least get one solid prospect and maybe a fringe guy back. Not knowing much of anything at all about the Yankees farm system, we conducted a super-dee-duper scientifically sound move of Googling "Yankees 2011 Prospects" and found this article, which got us thinking. If we could get this Jesus DeRosa Montero guy, could he play 3B after Aramis is gone? Pipe dream? Perhaps, but other than asking for pitching prospects (or Granderson), we're not sure what would complete this trade.

Jesus Christ blessed us with intelligence, strapping good looks, and the intestinal fortitude to never give up, but unfortunately, he did not grace us with (1) minor league player development knowledge or (2) financial wherewithal. That's where you come in. What's it going to take to get this trade done? Yes, Zambrano has a full NTC. And no, this wouldn't be BCB if we failed to discuss getting rid of this albatross.

One step ahead, one step behind it

Now ya gotta run to get even

Make future plans, I'll dream about yesterday, hey

Come on turn, turn this thing around

Carlos Zambrano Must Be Traded to the Yankees RIGHT NOW

Also, Bryce Harper is swinging a 36 inch 47 ounce bat.
