According to MLB Trade Rumors via Fred Mitchell and David Kaplan, the Chicago Cubs and Carlos Marmol are closing in on a long term deal. I haven't seen any details anywhere, but I think this is a good move.
He is the only completely reliable righty in the pen right now, looking at performance and health. Kerry Wood should be reliable, but you never know, he could get injured. Hopefully if Marshall stays in the pen he is as lights out as last year, and hopefully Mike Quade won't use him quite like Lou did last year. I still think we are one reliever short of having a decent bullpen, but hopefully one of the young guns can step up.
