Sigh...
50% off bleacher tickets here. An e-mail announcing Opening Day tickets being still available in my Inbox. Every week seems to leave me wondering more whether the new Cubs management team has completely mistook their market.
I really hope this team gets off to a good start. I’m not sure this club could take another bad season, and not have it hamper them financially.
Got that same email
Slightly worried. But that can all change with W’s
Keep that Q Train rollin' in '11. Let's win it for Ronnie.

Really? Wow...
those are great seats. Not surprised though.
I look forward to, and expect, more heavy discounts throughout the season.
Just went on Cubs.com...
…could get 6 Dugout box for $2,700 ouch…
… 4 IF Terrace box…
and pretty much anything else you want for OD.
Those must be seats they hold for VIPs
Pretty sure I sat in that exact location once. It’s a cool view, but honestly, it’s not worth the money to me. $100 for prime games. UGH.
That's not true
according to the Cubs.

But I have to say,
why you want to argue even after I’d told you I’d read an e-mail directly from the club about it just minutes ago is beyond me.
Get your tickets for Opening Day!
Opening Day at Wrigley Field
The Chicago Cubs will open a limited number of standing room-only tickets, as well as tickets previously held for Major League Baseball obligations

I wasn't arguing...
I was pointing out what I saw this morning. And you didn’t mention any specifics in your original post… so I did – again, with what was available this morning after I got the same email.
Well, quit talking to us
and go get yourself some tickets. Enjoy!

Right they hold Terrace seats for MLB obligations

They will open up some SRO tickets, AND they have tickets available in essentially all sections.
You can’t get 4 in a row in most sections, and in some sections they don’t have pairs. But you can get singles pretty much anywhere.
I am afraid that they may have overestimated the market for a Friday afternoon game on April 1 vs. Pittsburgh.

It's not just a "Friday afternoon game on April 1 vs. Pittsburgh".
It’s Opening Day.
Nevertheless, it’s still priced too high.

Obviously. But it's also a lot more expensive than any past Opening Day.
Add in the fact that it’s an atypically early home opener, vs. literally the least interesting possible opponent…. and you’ve got a recipe for “tickets available for all sections” 2 days prior.

It's more the price and the date than the opponent.
If the 2009 opener had been vs. the Pirates, it would have been sold out far in advance.

But if this year's Opening Day was against STL, it would also be sold out.
Even at the marquee prices, I’m betting.

They'll be 80% off on Stubhub...
Seriously, no matter how good the team is, people don’t want to spend a fortune to sit out in the cold and watch baseball in April or May. Yes, the games matter, but there isn’t the buzz or excitement that happens later on in the year during the pennant race…I know we’ve discussed this before, but bleacher season ticket holders must be pissed!
We've been through this already.
The answer is yes.

Al – I thought you said you were told they wouldnt be doing this again? Do you know what happened there?
See, I never like to spend an arm and a leg on games
but the May games are some of my favorite games to go to. The Cubs are (generally) still in it, the weather is just warming up and the games aren’t in high demand. Sunday afternoon May games are, in my opinion, some of the most relaxing times at the old ballpark

Easter weekend vs. the Dodgers is going to be great.
The first warm-ish weekends of the year, a high-profile series, we shouldn’t be too far out of it… Agreed – late April and early May can be a blast.
(It beats the hell out of those late season, cold-wind night games played in front of 6,000 people, anyway.)

Amen
And yes, that will be fun series. Affordable as well since I believe that is a Silver-tier game. Wish I was in town for it. Instead I’ll have to wait for the May 13-15 series against SF…..will be at the May 13 and May 15 games.

50% off, and still too much!
These are the most overpriced seats in all of MLB.

More ticket discount news
Just got an email offering 50% off bleachers to Cubs Club members. I think they’re going to start handing out these codes randomly at L stops.
But more interesting, this offer also discounts all OTHER available tickets by 25%. Tickets must really not be selling.

Wow.
50% off bleachers for the whole season, or is this just trying to continue to hype the April and May games?
A friend who applied for the Wrigley Ambassador program
told me that he got an email with a code for 50% off April & May bleachers as well, same as the college deal.
So basically...
… everyone in the entire universe can get in on this deal.
Oh, except season ticket holders who paid full price.

Whatever the reason,
thanks for posting this! Went on this morning and grabbed Bleacher seats for a few games in April and May that I hadn’t originally planned on doing.
