Since 3.0 is no longer listed, I'm posting 2011 Draft 4.0. Those of you familiar with this series know most of the usual suspects. Upon recommendation, I am adding Zack McPhee from Arizona State. There are two reasons for this. The Red Sox love drafting 'helium' players, ones who skyrocket up the board in the runup to the draft on a solid campaign. Also, there are Fifty Rounds in the Draft. While I don't want this to get entirely tangled in "My cousin plays high school ball in (Insert town/city) and is a senior. He's the third starter in his rotation, and....", I'm more than willing to encourage people to give shoutouts to guys who will be available (and drafted) well after Pick Number 9.
So if there are guys you'd like to see the Cubs consider in later rounds, and you're willing to give a mini-scouting report on them, many of us will read it. That or you can tell us what Danny Hultzen just did to some unfortunate batch of amateurs.I am now dipping on minor leaguers/amateurs on Twitter. No better way to find out when a guy is injured than when he admits it online for all to read. Anyway, Sonny Gray just got up from a nap and is readying to submit a paper in a class. His topic? Small market vs. big market baseball. Gotta love it.
Weather permitting, South Carolina with Jackie Bradley Jr. and two CubSnubs will play Clemson in a makeup on ESPN360 on Tuesday night. Thanks for your participation
