I saw Pena drop a beautiful bunt the other day and got all excited. I still love to see guys who can bunt and play fundamental baseball - especially guys who ordinarily aren't viewed as hitters who would ever bunt.
However, my "glass half full" post generated a lot of sarcastic replies. After a few back and forth wins/losses, I realize I probably am closer to drowning in the half full glass. You pessimists are winning the battle, damnit.
Maybe these guys will go on some sort of Rockies-like tear or play above their heads and end up in the thick of a playoff hunt, but suffice to say most of you think we'll have to wait till next year (or 2 or 3 years) before our salary position enables us to make another run at buying a great team.
anyway, I enjoy reading the blog - wish it weren't so pessimistic but maybe you guys are just realists instead.
I'll just continue to do what all fans of the Cubs have been doing for what, 100 plus years - keep the faith.
