Soto may be headed to Cubs' DL
Geovany Soto left Tuesday's game for a pinch-hitter in the first inning after suffering a left groin strain, and may be headed to the disabled list.
The Cubs will send Soto for an MRI Wednesday morning, and are expected to call-up catcher Welington Castillo from Triple-A Iowa.
etc. etc. etc.

I think you will get your wish...Castillo will get to watch like last year!
I know you are kidding…..But I am not….
fantastic
anybody else see quade send up hill with the bases loaded?i could have killed him.and castillo will rot on the bench.
in Quade's defense
not like he had a choice. Who is our catcher if he pinch hits for Hill there?
He didnt have a choice then....But it sure looked like Hill was going to bat in the 9th, but Castro ended the game...
He had no choice in the 9th, either.
If Castro gets on and the game gets tied and he bats for Hill — who catches? Jeff Baker? No one would want to see that.

Yeah, but if it's your last shot, I think you take it

You really can't in that situation.
What if the game goes 16 innings then? You can’t go with Baker or, say, Reed Johnson for that long.

Isn't Colvin the emergency C?
I thought I saw that somewhere.
If Beef does not start most of the games there is something wrong.....That said, Hill will start most of the games, if not all of them....
I agree with the first part of your statement.
However, at this point there is no reason to bring Castillo up to sit on the bench. I think he’ll start most of the games.
If he doesn’t, then absolutely, that’s the wrong decision.

It's funny how quickly our ST hypothetical is going to be tested.
Was it only 2 months ago we were all discussing how Wellington had obviously beaten Hill out, but that he was going to the minors to play, and that if/when Soto got hurt, Castillo would return and become the starter?
Well, here we go! Time for Quade to make the right call. After tonight, Castillo should get an extended run.
