Geovany Soto left Tuesday's game for a pinch-hitter in the first inning after suffering a left groin strain, and may be headed to the disabled list.

The Cubs will send Soto for an MRI Wednesday morning, and are expected to call-up catcher Welington Castillo from Triple-A Iowa.

etc. etc. etc.

in Quade's defense

not like he had a choice. Who is our catcher if he pinch hits for Hill there?

I agree with the first part of your statement.

However, at this point there is no reason to bring Castillo up to sit on the bench. I think he’ll start most of the games.

If he doesn’t, then absolutely, that’s the wrong decision.

It's funny how quickly our ST hypothetical is going to be tested.

Was it only 2 months ago we were all discussing how Wellington had obviously beaten Hill out, but that he was going to the minors to play, and that if/when Soto got hurt, Castillo would return and become the starter?

Well, here we go! Time for Quade to make the right call. After tonight, Castillo should get an extended run.
