Being from Rhode Island, I was brought up a Red Sox fan and I still am due to my location and loyalty. Playing 2nd base in little league led me to the love of my favorite baseball player of all time Ryne Sandberg. It was 1990 when Ryno slugged 40 homeruns that my love for him and the Cubs began. Through the years, I have traveled to Wrigley 7 times among them have been the cross town show down with the White Sox, my bachelor party and the Red Sox visit in 2005. I thoroughly enjoyed watching the Red Sox come to Chitown in 2005 and it was quite an experience being a Red Sox fan and Cubs fan. I remember wearing my old ripped fitted Red Sox hat that Varitek signed to the games in 2005 along with my Ramírez jersey. I got a lot of flack that day and it was well deserved. Tonight and this weekend, I will not be making that same mistake. Living an hour away from Fenway, I go to about 10 games a season. So for the past 20 years, I have always wondered when and if the Cubbies would ever come here for a game. After nearly 2 decades and 1700 red sox home games sine becoming a cubs fan, the day and weekend has finally arrived! My pregnant wife woke me up this morning repeating the phrase Cubbies, cubbies and boy did I wake up with a smile!
I will be at Friday's and Sunday's game. Friday Field Box 14 Row F. Sunday Bleacher 40 Row 4. Would love to meet some fellow BCBers and Al Yellon.
