Ramirez DH instead of Soriano?
Why is Ramirez going to DH this series? Sori is obviously not great in the OF? Guess Cubs figure if Manny could play LF there then so can Sori.

Soriano is a dog in the outfield, but Baker probably isnt any better. I assume Reed is in right.
hopefully Campana will be in left for the 2 games started by righties, with Sori at DH.
Yes, Reed in RF tonight
Castro SS, Barney 2B, Baker 3B, Ramirez DH, Pena 1B, Byrd CF, Soriano LF, Johnson RF, Hill C, (Davis P)
This is a head scratcher
Is Quade aware of the Green Monster in LF? Soriano will now be an even bigger liability.

Maybe Quade is thinking that the Cubs pitchers are going to shut Boston down anyways
So the Green Monster is out of the equation.
Sori played better defense when he was in the AL
Rami was never in the AL so he doesn’t know how to play defense there

I think that Doofus meant that Baker isnt familiar with the Green Monster
Baker is inexperienced in left, and therefore unlikely to be better than Soriano. Ramirez could use the rest, so DH makes sense for him with Baker at 3B against the lefty. As I wrote earlier, Campana should get the starts in left against the righties.

Ramirez DHing was my first instinct
It has been obvious to me for years that his groin pulls and other injuries from previous years are still lingering. It has been many seasons since he has made any effort when running the bases and has become a “matador” style of defender instead of moving to get in front of the ball. If you have a chance to get him a few days where he can sit on the bench for 2.5 hours of the 3 hour game, it needs to be considered. That might let him get through July-August without a 4-6 week DL.
Still, Soriano trying to read deflections off the Monster is going to be entertaining for all the wrong reasons. As we all know, the total defensive prowess of this Cub team is sub par, so moving one player to DH isn’t going to suddenly make the whole team error-free.
Oy Vey!!
Sori is a butcher in LF regardless of where the Cubs play, it will be magnified at Fenway. All I can say it’s going to be very interesting. Hopefully we’ll get through this game error free, but I won’t hold my breath that we do.
maybe the thought process here is this will simplify things for Rammy.
Doesnt have to think or worry about the field, just focus on driving the ball. Try and get the HR swing going, if he has it anymore…
Also Hill is starting at catcher with a LHP Lester
I’m starting to think the Cubs don’t really like Beef.
I don't think this is a big deal
Sori’s arm in left, at least, is an asset. Ramirez @ 3rd is a liability regardless.

So far, so good.
The smallest leftfield in the majors may be the best place for soriano. When he falls down, the ball might bounce right back to him.
Do they has trade for heem?
