Worst year to attend a game?

This post is not meant not to just be an ownership bashing post, but I was wondering if anyone can ever remember a worse year to attend a game? I'm sure some older posters could probably recall worse. I'd love to here it. I've only been attending regularly since 1995.

I have a weekend-nights plan for the last 8 years and I never thought I'd ever consider giving them up and I still probalby won't, but nothing about this season has been enjoyable. The fan expeience seems to be at an all time low as are the temperatures.

Last year was the first year the price of tickets bothered me. I've always considered them worth it in the past. This subject has been beaten to death so i wont rehash.  I also find myself buying less concession when I am there. Its kinda like $7 and $5 was the breaking point for me on hot dogs and beer. Which is pretty high barier to begin with. They hit that mark and I'm just not interest anymore.

In the past cubs fans have always been optimistic, now Wrigley feels like a beat down place. The fans in general know more than they ever have which is a problem when the team is this bad and the near future doesn't look much better. I can't remember a time when fans have ever been lower on management and the P.R has been abysmal. Only the tourist from Iowa seem interested in even talking to Tom Ricketts when he comes around. I havent read the board here for more than a couple years but I have to imagine the negativity couldnt get much higher and for good reason.

There have been worse years record wise, but in the past the ticket prices and concession were more reasonable, there was usually a star to see, and we didn't know enough about the minors to not buy into to the next hot prospect. Now we know better and maybe thats the cubs biggest problem from the past. The fans have gotten smarter, so a season like this seems so much worse.

Do people agree with this or can you remember a worse time to attend?
