Basically since the last time anyone mentioned him, in great lamentation about his departure, he's gone back to being Sam Fuld again.

Just wanted to bring this up since the people who bring this sort of thing up don't seem to notice when the players in question go back to being themselves again.

Sam Fuld's brief and unsustainable success yielded more posts in April than any other topic

Most of them were filled with people lamenting the Cubs “throwing him in” in the Garza trade.

by Wreckard on May 6, 2011 5:14 PM CDT up reply actions

not a single one was from me lamenting throwing him in the Garza trade

and since I supposedly wrote all of them that seems odd.

No I really resent it when people twist the facts

I was HAPPY when Fuld was traded because I knew he would have a chance to play. I never said anything about throwing in the Garza trade which I hate for other reasons. I never said he should or would be a starter but it is easier for people to claim that than to check the truth.

Since Guyer has been called up by the Rays I expect someone to start a thread on that and I don’t even want to think about Archer & Lee.

FYI how many posts have we had this week on not signing Berkman? Seems the same pricible does not apply.

Anyway of to the theater so I expect 500 posts when I get back

I am a woman and I like certain players ( Maddux, Murton, Fuld, Don Kessinger)
so I must be physically attracted to them. I do happen to lust after plate discipline. I am kinky that way.

And yet you're the only one throwing around the word obsession.

The reason there was so much discussion was because he was a Cub who was a throw in and got off to a really hot start. It wasn’t because Jessica liked him.

What if I'm obsessed with people who are obsessed with Jessica's obsession?

That’s three levels of obsession, and we all know that you need a very stable sedative to get three levels deep. Also, if you go deeper, then you’re in limbo and 50 years could pass in, like, 4 hours of real-time, so I’m gonna stop here for now.

I've been here 4 years I think...

and there has always been bitching, moaning, and attacking.

Honestly

Honestly I think if they won the world series some people would find something to complain about.

Someone would start a fanpost on the order of speakers at the celebration or something like that.

Alright, I'll be the first one to say it.

Were the good ol days in 2003? When we won the division? Or 2007? When we won the division? Or 2008? When we won the division? Because those were DEFINITELY better than 2010, when we were 5th in the division and won 75 games.

Bitch, bitch. Complain, complain.

I wish the Cubs were good so you'd stop acting like a JERK.

There's a big difference between mocking silly posts about a player that's not on this team (and played a minor, minor role at that)

and commenting with cognizant thoughts about baseball. This thread is clearly of the former.

Yeah but he ran into the outfield wall and stuff.

To clarify my point...

…I didn’t mean to imply that this fanpost was the problem. It’s more about how some people tend to high jack threads and turn them into a personal fights that end up completely deviating from the thread itself.

And naming names would defeat the purpose. This isn’t about calling specific people out (how hypocritcal would that be of me?).

It’s more a plea to 1) keep things reasonably on topic 2)resist the urge to get angry and personal and 3) avoid vendettas

by bluekoolaide on May 8, 2011 8:54 AM CDT up reply actions

This fanpost isn't the problem you're talking about?

The OP posted it as a means to call out other posters. Things seem to have gone predictably after that.

I enjoy a good vendetta.

And a vendetta is never fully realized without getting personal. That’s why I think that Dan should be banned for being Dan.

by Kansas25 on May 8, 2011 6:32 PM CDT up reply actions

Whoa there, chief.

I’d like to see where I got personal.

Yeah...

I got nothing. I just really wanted a vendetta.

I think you're joking, but the internet is hard to read jokes.

Also, the great Chris Archer...

aka. the guy who could at least be Garza according to some…continues to get exposed at the AA level:

27.1/36 H/25 K/16 BB/2 HR/20 R/18 ER/5.93 ERA

Chirinos is currently putting up a .463 OPS in Durham.

So, so far...

… the Rays have gotten one good game from Brandon Guyer, and a couple good weeks out of Fuld, from the trade.

Meanwhile, Garza is looking better with each start.
