1B Kila Ka'aihue Is Now (Likely) Available
Since KC called up super-prospect Eric Hosmer (1B), former underachiever Kila Ka'aihue is now available for trade. Al Yellon advocated that we go after Kila last year. Should we check on Ka'aihue's availability? - TL

No...
we got Pena for the rest of the season and there’s NO reason to go after Kila Ka’aihue now, because, there’s 2 BIG free agent 1Bs on the board next winter and Hendry and Ricketts need NO reason to not get one of them.
I've come to the conclusion that the two most important things in life are good friends and a good bullpen. ~Bob Lemon, 1981
But isn't Ka'aihue a...
…nice back-up plan? I’m pretty sure he can hit .225 and get us 20-25 HRs. That’s what we have with Pena (sadly).

He's not free
The Royals aren’t going to give him to us as a favor. What are you willing to give up for a Mendoza-line-flirting, mediocre fielding, 27-year-old-former-prospect backup plan?
Because you’ll have to give something up, probably something of relative value, and the odds are he’s just not worth it.
As I have said in a couple other threads...
… it just appears he can’t hit MLB pitching at all. He’s Micah Hoffpauir with walks.

I think he's having trouble...
…with ML curveballs. Then again, he’s only had about 120 plate appearances in the majors. – TL

but what happens to him when we vote him in as President?
Chronologically inept since 2060
Q: Why did Chuck Norris cross the road?
A: Ditka
Ditka's mustache can block a Chuck Norris round house
Ditka's mustache can kill two stones with one bird
20-25 HR over how many years?

He really does..
….have power. – TL

He showed massive power in AA in 2008
Beyond that he’s barely clearing 20 HR in the minors.
I guess I'm just a worrier, that's why my friends call me whiskers
Sort of, but...
…have you looked at our 1B situation lately?

If he is waived, we should put in a claim.
There’s no reason to give up much of anything for the Samoan version of Hoff.

I guess that they wouldn't have taken Max Ramirez
It's a simple question, Doctor: would you eat the moon if it were made of ribs??
