Twins Sign Thomas Diamond
The former Cubs righthander was signed to a minor league deal and will start for Triple-A Rochester tonight.

I know I bashed the guy like crazy, but he worked his ass off to even be pitching again. There’s no reason to knock that, and I’m glad he can still find work.

He also struck out 10 in the Cubs big league debut. In a rough year last year, that was at least one fun thing to watch.
Yeah that was a 2010 game I caught too...
I couldn’t imagine I was watching a RH with a 90 MPH fastball and mediocre at best offspeed stuff K 10 big league hitters. It was even sweeter because Diamond was once a top prospect in a vaunted trio (DVD) that lost his stuff to shoulder and elbow injuries.

I hope someone can get him up to MLB quality at some point. At 28, he’s not exactly young, but still not too old to work with.

He'll probably have a 1.50 ERA
with 30 saves for the Twins. Just because that’s the way this season has gone.
