Yes they are

Anyone has a link that says what various Cubs players WAR is?

Castro leading the team in WAR

In a tie with Matt Garza at 2.0. As the season progresses, we’ll see how things end up.

RIP Ronnie James Dio (July 10, 1942 - May 16, 2010) and Ron Santo (February 25, 1940-December 2, 2010).

The only problem is those pesky injuries and bad weather

Tom and Jim told us so. Who cares about some silly stats?

Hey Al, remember the article on Riggins in the Maple Street Press?

When asked to summarize his pitching philosophy, Riggins firmly replied, “Throw strikes, work ahead in the count, and get alot of ground balls. Be aggressive on the mound. We can’t stand walks. We don’t like free passes to first base.” OOPS.

yeah

he has really been telling the pitchers to walk everyone in sight

"Wait, are you saying I'm a sunshine-pumping, koolaid-drinking, Soriano-loving, rainbow-rising, unicorn-riding, double-clutching, Sweet Lou-backing, Hendry-supporting, hey hey whaddya saying, Cubs are going all the waying, glass is overflowing, Rothschild is all-knowing, Cubs fan? - ballhawk

That's not what I said

I said that during the off season…. everyone has their cliches they use.

by Madison Cub Fan on Jun 28, 2011 12:23 PM CDT up reply actions

Do you think Riggins likes giving free passes to first base?

Because the logical implication is that you’re suggesting he doesn’t believe in throwing strikes and doesn’t hate giving up free passes to first base.

I’m quite sure what Riggins said isn’t just a cliche (it is cliche, but it’s also what pretty much everybody wants to do). We just don’t have pitchers with very good control.

n/m

I’m not going to debate anyone on whether our pitching coach used a cliche or not last off season b/c literary that was my only point.

by Madison Cub Fan on Jun 28, 2011 3:24 PM CDT up reply actions

I wasn't debating whether or not he used a cliche...

Obviously it’s a cliche. But it’s a cliche because everyone wants to do that. Your response to Al (who said the pitchers were failing to practice what he preached) suggest an alternative to the idea that he was in favor of doing those things.

If you agree that he wants his pitchers to throw strikes and avoid walks, then we aren’t in disagreement. But that means that the pitchers are indeed failing to practice what he preaches.
