The 2002 All-Star game, despite having one of the better moments in recent All-Star game history, has come to be known as one of the most infamous. This detestable status was gained through the final outcome of the game, one thought unthinkable - a tie. This incited a call to action for Major League Baseball. They responded with something totally unexpected. In 2003, the MLB struck a deal with the MLBPA to add an incentive to the All-Star game, home field advantage to the winner in the World Series. Since this was added, there has been a constant debate about whether the All-Star game should retain this result as home field advantage plays an enormous part in the World Series.
Overall, I have loved what the All-Star game has become. It has been exciting year in and year out, I hope to appease the outrage of many fans while still holding the game's important status. I propose a system is both team and league specific and retain the importance of the All-Star game.
World Series Home Field Advatange will be awarded to the league that holds the majority of these categories
1. Winner of the All-Star Game
2. Winner of Interleague Play
3. Best Record of the Two Teams
I believe this retains the intensity of the All-Star game, while still sustaining the importance of the regular season.
