And manager Mike Quade tries his best to stay optimistic.

"There are 25 guys in the clubhouse trying to get better and playing hard," he said. "I can't quit on them. They haven't quit on me."

Clearly, he has not actually been watching the team over the last couple of weeks...

I think I speak for everyone here when I say, "Wait, what the hell are you talking about?"

He just really never says the things I want to here.

Enough with the damn “playing hard” crap. For one, I don’t care how hard you are playing… play the game right. Hit the cutoff man. BE A CUTOFF MAN. Throw strikes. Work counts. Run the bases with sense. Pitch with a sense of urgency. Hit with a sense of urgency.

None of this I see under this manager. These issues are even more problematic than it was during the Lou Piniella era.

LOL.

that is supposed to read “he just really never says the things I want to hear”

Blame it on the 2 hours of sleep I’m averaging a night.

Of course they haven't given up on Quade

Quade let’s them play hustle free baseball. Without Quade, they’d need to play with fundimentals and be accountable. They need Quade in order to keep phoning in their performances this season.

Whatever one may think of Quade otherwise, I kind of feel sorry for the guy.

I’m sure that upon reaching his dream of managing a MLB team, he never dreamt that his first full season would such an unmitigated nightmare.

If the Cubs still have a chance, no matter how small, it’s still Go Cubs, damn the math and pass the KoolAid.

He was a sitting duck from day 1.

This was a team hoping to be a little over .500 if things broke right…they didn’t.

I feel bad for the guy too. When a ML manger is managing a losing team, everyone and then some are suddenly infinitely more qualified for the job.

I’m not sure what manager comes in and does a better job with the way some of this talent has played. Down years from alot of vets…Soto…Wood…Marmol…Ramirez, Z, and Dempster start slow…I realize players playing poorly is an excuse and shows that the manager has no will or leadership, but it pretty much killed any chance for Quade.

He’s still got a second half thogh…and personally I think he can surprise with some of the young talent we just might see this year. I still think this team can play spoiler…
