Cubs and Fantasy Football Fans:

Since the Cubs are well on their way to another stinker of a season, why not turn your attention to America's real past-time....fantasy football!

This will be the 4th year I have commissionered a league through BCB. We usually get some active managers (for a while, at least).

If you are interested in joining, please do under these two circumstances:

1. You will be online for the auction draft (Thursday, August 11 at 7:00-9:00 p.m.....Cubs off day)
2. You will set and keep a lineup each week of the NFL season. (not starting players on IR or byes, etc.)

If you feel that you can't commit to these two stipulations, please find another league to play in.

We've had a few BCBers who have been in this league since 2008: Azul Cacharro, Iswaids, Chodes, WayneCampbell08

I have sent the invite to last year's players to give them a head start on registering, but I have increased the number of teams to 12.

Please click on the link above and enter the following details:

League ID #: 104673
Password: santo

Good luck

(also, if you join, please rec this post so it stays on the front page....I'll delete it when the league is full)

I'd LOVE to join...

But the 11th is the worst possible date for me. Thursday, September 1st is the last Thursday before the NFL season starts, and it’s a Cubbie off day. That would be MUCH easier on my schedule. Thx!

September 1 is also Mrs. Fukudometer's due date....

I know from experience some people like to do a league like this as a preparation draft for a $ league. That’s why the date is a tad early.

Thanks haha

It was either going to be “The Hurt Lacher” or the “Hurricane Ditkas” (obviously based on the SuperFan SNL sketch). I’m curious to know who the other are since I can’t really tell based on their names. Obviously I know which you are.

We'll all miss you Ron.

for those who do play fantasy football

give the site i write for a look, we’re subscriber-based, but we also have free content (podcasts, my twitter feeds, etc). If you play for higher stakes i guarantee there isn’t a better tool on the web than our draft software (I know because i was a subscriber first before i started writing for them 6+ years ago)

site is www.fantistics.com we cover baseball and football

Looks like neat software

but $50…gulp. I’m in 5 leagues and my buyins range from $75-$150 each. I personally use Rotoworld’s draftguide for $15. Helped me get guys like Foster, Collie, M Williams last year.

yeah

we understand the pricing structure is different than other providers out there, but we also believe the content and the product is worth more. It definitely depends on what level of leagues you’re playing at.

I’ll note we had Peyton Hillis as a Top 10 rd pick last year (someone most people didn’t even have identified as a draftable option). We also had Bradshaw way way ahead of Jacobs in the Giants backfield which was unique.

In baseball we had Granderson as a 6th rd pick, which was 2-3 rds above consensus. Obviously i’m cherry-picking some of the great calls, as with every provider there’s hits and misses. we have far more hits than misses

understand where you’re coming from on the cost though and if you feel you have a solid provider at a lower entry point I understand not entertaining a change

Yeah

I found out from someone else that there’s a new feature this year that blocks new people with a message stating that not everyone from the previous year has returned or declined.

What kind of football? Football played with the feet, or football played by heavily padded behemoths using their hands?

;-)

If the Cubs still have a chance, no matter how small, it’s still Go Cubs, damn the math and pass the KoolAid.

by eths on Jul 30, 2011 6:37 AM CDT reply actions

ummmm...REAL football

not the foosball you European Metrosexuals like to play…

with real scores like 45-35 not 0-0 ties…

with real injuries like mulitple concussions and severly broken legs not guys flopping to the ground 100 ft from any other player…

with real cheerleaders like the 37 year old GILF the Raiders hired not riots and hooligans…

Fields that are measured in yards not metres…

AMERICA, AMERICA, F&#% YA!!!
