Let's reminisce about the last time the Cubs won four straight games, shall we?
Not just four in a row, the Cubs had a six-game winning streak last season, all on the road in September, which consisted of consecutive sweeps of the Cardinals and Marlins -- after taking two of three in Milwaukee. It was the first time in franchise history the Cubs had won that many games on a road trip that long.
Seems like 100 years ago, doesn't it? Maybe this trip to Milwaukee will trigger memories, and a decent-sized winning streak. Because if it doesn't, the Cubs don't seem to have much of a chance of winning more than three straight any time the rest of the season -- the two remaining series vs. the Astros would be about it for three-game streaks.
Enjoy this while you can.

Ryan Dempster had one of his best outings of the year against the Brewers on June 13 at Wrigley Field. The Cubs even won the game, though after Dempster left a scoreless tie and got a no-decision. In 2010 and 2011 combined, he has a 0.82 ERA in five starts against Milwaukee. Current Brewers are hitting just .224 (57-for-255) against him. And yes, that 22 games, 21 starts is correct: Dempster was sent up in the 11th inning as a PH on June 9 in Philadelphia. Attempting to sacrifice, he struck out on a foul bunt, but the Cubs won anyway, the only game they won in that series.
The Cubs hit Chris Narveson pretty hard on June 15 at Wrigley Field, including home runs by Reed Johnson and Jeff Baker, but lost because the Brewers teed off on Carlos Zambrano that night. Narveson threw seven shutout innings against the Cubs on April 9 in Milwaukee. In addition to Baker and Reed, Aramis Ramirez has homered off Narveson in the past. Naturally, Reed isn't playing tonight.
