Catcher Steve Clevenger was promoted to Iowa. All of a sudden, the I-Cubs are worth watching.

Tennessee Smokies

The Smokies were griddle-fried by the Montgomery Biscuits, 5-1.

Trey McNutt started and pitched four innings. He gave up five runs on seven hits. McNutt walked three and struck out two.

Catcher Luis Flores was 2 for 4 with a run scored. Shortstop Matt Camp was 2 for 3.

Daytona Cubs

The Daytona Cubs lost to the St. Lucie Mets, 3-1.

A very strong start tonight from Jeffry Antigua. He just had the bad fortune to match up with a former Cy Young award winner for the first three innings. Antigua pitched seven innings and allowed three runs on seven hits. He didn't walk anyone and struck out eight.

Johan Santana allowed two hits tonight. Shortstop Rafael Valdes doubled off of Santana, and he was 3 for 4 overall.

They had highlights from this game on the MLB Network. That was kind of cool.

Peoria Chiefs

The Peoria Chiefs were bushwacked by the Quad City River Bandits (Cardinals), 3-1.

Eric Jokisch pitched a gem tonight. He threw 6.2 innings of shutout baseball, allowing only four hits. He only walked one and struck out seven.

Yohan Gonzalez blew the save in the ninth inning. He got a lineout double-play to end the eighth inning, but he opened the ninth with a walk, a single, a wild pitch scoring a run and then capped it off by allowing a game-ending two-run home run. Gonzalez allowed three runs over two-thirds of an inning.

Second baseman Rubi Silva was 4 for 4. Center fielder Taiwan Easterling went 2 for 3 with a double and a sac fly.

Catcher Sergio Burruel went 2 for 4 and scored the lone Chiefs run.

Boise Hawks

The Boise Hawks were doused by the Everett AquaSox (Mariners) 5-4 in ten innings.

Ben Wells pitched the first 5.1 innings and allowed three runs on five hits, although two of those runs scored after he left the game. Wells struck out six and only walked one.

Dustin Fitzgerald allowed a two-out RBI single in the bottom of the tenth that ended the game. He pitched two-thirds of an inning and allowed one run on one hit and two walks. He did not have a strikeout.

Center fielder Pin-Chieh Chen hit his first professional home run in the fifth inning tonight with the bases empty. Chen was 2 for 5 with a stolen base. He scored twice.

Shortstop Dustin Harrington went 2 for 5. First baseman Paul Hoilman was 2 for 4 with a walk and an RBI.

AZL Cubs

Beat the Diamondbacks, 15-7.
